I think that's a bit useless though - what would be the point of putting them down T1 save for the building cover? I don't think I've ever seen anyone put down a bunker without going for the upgrade shortly after placing.

I saw an Indrid cast a while back where an IG player in a 3v3 put down a bunker right in front of an enemy Techmarine's turret to completely close off it's lines of fire.

Obviously this is uncommon, but still one of the most trolltastic moments ever.

Old but gold. Sadly, Ive yet to see a IG player who does that against me.

I've used unupgraded bunker in t1 to counter asms with hwt as lg. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

The lulz aside from blocking a mek/PC/Tech turret, that is a little expensive to place a permanent LoS blocker, not to mention the turrets are usually placed more towards the defending players side, which means you're more susceptible to getting flanked if you try to set up camp around your newly positioned bunker.

The other problem is that a lot of maps already have structures for garrison, a good number of which are centered around crucial points like VPs. So I'd see no further reason for an IG commander to drop an extra structure if they've got to wait until the 2nd tier to make use of it anyway. Hence, back to my original argument, how can you balance out a change with commanders like the LG and Inquis who only have bunkers as globals in T1. You can give the Inquis her Hell Fury but the LG has unattractive options, given his creeping barrage is a whopping 200 red I believe, and placing a heavy turret is well out of the question.

I don't think the bunkers should change.
But having no (usable) global in T1 is already in this game. Techmarine anyone?

if the reinforce is an issue it could be held off an until t2 with no change in price. you could still heal at a med bunker. beacons are similar though and iirc brood nests are t1 as well. brood nests don't heal but the heal is less important, especially on a high model race like nids.

Brood nests DO grant increased health regen in elite.
It's not a ton, but it definitely helps.

2x nests + 2x zoans and endless swarm terms with ranged synapse are impossible kill in a straight up fight, then the zoans themselves do great AV damage and counter AOE/suppression. Nids...
Lets make Ordo Malleus great again!

One manti to kill both nests in one volley (as long as they're close enough to another), then bomb shell and shielded LG + 2x AKtroopers. You're welcome =)
