How the hell do I beat Tyranids as Chaos.

My roommate mains Tyranids, and I cant seem to beat him. his melee squads always seem to stomp every squad I field, and there never seems to be a squad or upgrade available that will effectivly deal with his squads. The worst part about it, is that when I lose the engagement, I cant even run away, because hormigaunts chase my squads down and wipe them.

Am I just doing it wrong? I've tried 2 tics into raptors, 1csm and 1 tic into tier 2. Heavy T1 upgrades. None of it works vs his tyrant and melee spam. And God help me when he gets genestealers on the field.

Well a good T2 is a khorne dreadnought+bloodletters+tzeentch marines. That will really put the hurt on his genes. Just use the bloodletters to tie up venoms, and the khorne dread against his warriors/genes, the TCSM should also focus fire either the venoms or the warriors for synapse bombs.

Then just get some nice anti-blob wargears such as the blood maul+let the galaxy burn+daemonic visage for your CL, the power fist+armour of pestilence+icon of nurgle for your PC and the sword of flame+robes of torment+curse of tzeentch for your CS.

Typical t1 build vs nids would be 2x heretics, havocs and csm. Raptors are a decent choice if they get a barbed strangler warrior brood, still I prefer to get bloodletters in t2 since they pop synapse creatures so nicely and counter the tyrant guard, so I personally prefer noise marines over raptors in t1.

The only other thing to note is that because you know he is the hive tyrant it might be a good idea to go double csm instead of 2x tics, this only works if you know he's the hive tyrant though as 2x tics is better vs the other two heroes.

TY. I realized I was under the flawed assumption that CSM die to HG on even upgrades, so I think this new approach will help a lot.
