Pre Heresy Emperor's Children DLC

Postby Lost Son of Nikhel » Wed 11 Dec, 2013 9:57 am

Hi there, people.

I don't know why, but I'm trying to make a Pre-Heresy Emperor's Children DLC for ELITE for the Spessh Mehrenes army, using existing models but trying to avoid use any of the existing DLC elements.

I already (almost) finished the Tactical, Tactical Sargent and the Assault Marine Sargent

Ideas? Suggestions?

No suggestions as of yet, they look nice. Will their weapons be any different perchance?

Looking very nice. Good to see someone still doing this kind of thing (will eventually get my shit together and get max re-installed and do a few more)

However - it won't work if you are just planning it as a DLC replacer, as it Elite changes some files from retail. But if its designed to just be included in a future release of the mod then all is well.

Looking forward to see what else you come up with.

More pink color maybe? They are different from what I can see on artworks.

I never noticed that DoWII marine armour looks that beaten up.

I vote for helmets too. And the standard tactical could use some gold to his pauldrons. And perhaps a bit lighter/more pinkish shade or purple?

AFAIK the biggest weapon change from 30k to 40k was the Bolter/Heavy Bolter. Not sure about other weapons.

I know. It's designed to be included in a future release, like the Alpha Legion.

AFAIK it's a very accurate colour schema. And well, the the fan-artworks are very diverse. I found Fulgrim with long and short hair, for example.

That's because isn't the current common/rare/epic SM armours. The Assault Sarge one, for example, it's called Power armour of the Destroyer.

Ok, the Tactical Sargent Thaddeus head was a mistake, but the Assault Sargent Thule's one it's quite baddass. :(

Yeah, I would try to find a better shoulders with a bit more gold colour for the Tactical ones.

The colour scheme is perfect considering they are meant to look like this: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Emperor's_Children?file=EC_Legionary_Mk_IV.jpg

No offence, but aren't your 'Pre Heresy' marines wearing power armour marks that are 'too modern'? Pre Heresy marines would probably only be wearing mk 1-4. Currently, they seem to be wearing 5 and 6. Other than that visual aesthetics nitpick.... i applaud your dedication.

AFAIK during the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy all legions used models from Mark 2 to 5. Mark 6 and 7 are created during/at the end of the Horus Heresy.

Still you have right: the chest and the kneepads of the Tactical/Assault Sargent are too modern, from the Mark 7 model. The correct ones are the Mark 2 to 5.

The problems? We have the Mark 3 armour on the Last Stand Captain's DLC, and the Mark 4 chest on the Tactical Sargent on the Ultramarines DLC. But as I said before, I don't want to use them because I don't want to create a replace of the Ultramarines DLC, but a new implementation one.

I doubt nobody will give a fuck if I use such models, and more when I'm not unlocking the whole DLC, but...

The ornamentation is a subjective theme, of course. The correct will be only give them battle patchments (in form of purification patchments) but IMHO without ornamentation their models looks too simple.

I remember that there were mk4 and 5 leg armours already present in the game files. I also recall seeing mk3,4,5,6, helmets. And i definitely remember seeing fully functioning mk2 power armour with Emperor's Children decorations on it (Phoenix wing pinion?). Maybe ask the original maker?

Unfortunately Uncle Anesthesia isn't releasing any of his models until his mod is finished. Asked him the other month as wanted to use some of them for my DLC replacers.

Could always see if he's changed his mind though I guess.
