AI players cannot bash gens?

hey dudes. seems the AI cannot bash gens in elite. since this issue has been here for many versions i guess it is a known unsolvable issue?

We changed the power nodes so that they are no longer auto-targetable and looks like the AI was using that (as far as I can tell it only ever destroyed the node and stole the gens) so now it just stands around... I presume it can be fixed. We have nobody who understands the AI, though, so...

roger. too bad though. being a busy dad i often play against the AI (because i can pause those games when the kids misbehave). What is the advantage of the change to power nodes you did?

In Combat Situation, you units would often shoot at enemy generators, instead of the enemie's army.

Was especially bad for tanks who would, when either trying to hunt down or back away from enemy units, shoot the generators instead.

gens had the highest target priority and thus any fighting around them had to be very intensely microed by the non-owning player.

Would it be possible to just change the target priority of generators to lowest? Then fights around them would behave normally, but in the absence of a fight they would be the most important target? (is that possible even?)

I don't think that bit of the AI is accEssible

What could be tried is going into ai_tuning.rbf and raising the priority of "support" . Generators are a support structure and I think they usually have a low priority.

I was going to fiddle with this in the new year and let you know If it works or not then Lulgrim could choose to implement or not

It's the nodes btw. Gens were also not auto-targeted before the change.
