Problems with beta 10

Hello, a few days ago i had installed the latest beta download for elite mod, beta 10.
After the installation i opened up elite mod and wasn't able to join any games. the games i tried to join were beta 10. Beta 9 worked fine but for some reason beta 10 doesnt work. To clarify i have downloaded the update multiple times. My steam install is located on C: while my steam library is located on D:. When updated to beta i copied the installation files from C:'s Dawn of War II - Retribution folder to the same one located in D:. I cannot see where i have gone wrong because i have done this with beta 9 and previous and everything worked fine. I want to get this working because i'm sick and tired of retail. Could anyone help?

Are you completly sure you successfully updated to beta 10?

I'd say check in the main menu what version your'e on, just to be sure, if you havent allready.

Hm, did you only check on the very first day of ß10? Maaaybe the other people were still on ß9?

Same thing with beta 11, dunno whats wrong. Beta 10 works fine, but with beta 11 i cant connect to anyone. There is version 11 on main menu screen, and contains all changes beta 11. Pls help someone

hey qwest did you get beta 11 after lulgrim updated it for the second time? he said he had something to fix real quick and reuploaded.

yes im redowloaded it and reinstalled beta 10 and 11 but it did not help

Just updated to beta 11, still the same issues. I've verified the game's cache. No luck.

did you get the module file copied over? it'd probably be simplest to point it to the right folder when installing rather than copying over.

Do you have your steam library on another drive? what's you're pathing?

i'm kind of at a loss here; i'm sure it's something really basic but i can't tell from here.

D:\Games\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch 56400 -nomovies -modname Elite_beta -dev

"d:\games\steam\SteamApps\common\dawn of war ii - retribution\Elite_beta\Data\ui\textures\generic\fe\main_menu\."

those are my paths. steam is on the same drive though.

Does the first path point to steam? did you change it at all?

Yeah, i can't see what i've done wrong.

Really want to get back into elite, retail isn't the same....My steam is located on C: while my steam Library is located on my B: (e.g your D: just under a different name) I've done this because i'm running my OS + important programs on my 256gb ssd + then another 256gb ssd for games and non-critical files.
Pathing is as followed:

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 56400 -nomovies -modname Elite_beta -dev

Start in: "B:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War II - Retribution\Elite_beta\Data\ui\textures\generic\fe\main_menu"

Surely you can see your "start in" path points to a random texture subdirectory... How about fixing that first.

Clarification: should point to where dow2.exe (w.e it's called) is.

I dont know if this might be it. But i used to have a bug (even happened for retail) where i coulndt join games and only be invited to them. Thus my question is. Are the games blacked out? Or like normal where you can highlight them.

Because if its blacked out (as you know) you need the updated version or the host is playing on an older version.

If you cannot join after double clicking, or hitting "join game" when a lobby is highlighted then its a error is game files itself and you'll need to re install dow2 all together.

To check this try and join a game in retail. Any game. And if its is just impossible to join. That is the problem.

If not them. I hate to doubt but can you look in to your Elite_beta folder and tell us what you see? Like You should see Archives, Data, DataAttrib, and the icon. Maybe, for some reason, your missing something?

I tired pointing it to the DOW2.exe file, doesn't work. I'm probably doing a noob mistake. That "start in" path was the original pathing when i created the shortcut for beta 9 (when it worked). Others seem to have the same pathing as me. However, i do agree that the pathing was a little strange.

It still starts if i do this path: "B:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War II - Retribution\" but when i do "B:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War II - Retribution\DOW2.exe" it gives me an error. Do i have to create another folder for the DOW2.exe?

To Wa1243agh:

I haven't run into any trouble with joining,hosting or inviting myself and people into games in retail. Yes, in elite the games are "Blacked" out, i cannot highlight them, can't even randomly press join after the beta 10 and beta 11. Retail games work fine, just not elite. I've linked a photo highlighting the folders. Doesn't look like I'm missing anything. I've also verified the game's cache and everything is fine.

lulgrim, mine also points to the main menu folder and seems to work just fine.

one thing that does come to mind is that naming the drive "B" may be an issue. traditionally B was, iirc, a floppy driver. you've had it work in the past though so i don't see why that would be a problem suddenly.

I also had the random texture subdir in my shortcut but I don't think it even matters. I just left my "start in" line blank and it works just the same. So it's probably safe to say this line is ignored by steam. Also I have to ask, why do you keep 2 copies and are you sure they're both the latest version? I haven't had these issues but if I had to guess i'd go with that being the problem.

Hate to tag onto someone else's thread but it saves me making a new one.

I'm trying to install Elite Mod and I really have no idea what's going on. I've installed Beta 10 and Beta 11 and the icon on my desktop appeared, it was all fine. I go into the game and look at public games and every game is always greyed out, I can't click on it. Now I don't know whether I've done something wrong, it would help if I knew for sure what version I have installed. The front page with the Ork Warboss says Elite Version 2.1 v 3.19.1.6123 (Though this is related to the base game afaik). Having read this thread, it's possible all these people have yet to update their game but I've no way of knowing that. What I'm asking is whether there is a way to know 100% what version I am running?

Similarly is it common for there to be virtually no public games up? I guess not many people play Elite Mod and so you need to arrange them with people beforehand.

Your version of ELITE is outdated

You need version ß 2.2 beta 10 and beta 11 hotfix

Otherwhise I guess you installed everything corectly, just an outdated version.

@Qwest, Whenever i right click on the Elite_Beta folder the whole computer crashes and sends me back to the desktop. So yeah. Could you add me on steam and walk me through the process? i'm thinking i might just format my PC.

Well then I'm officially stuck. I have 100% for sure installed the 2.2 beta 10 and then the 2.2 beta 11 and the installer did not have any problems, both taken from the link you provided and all games are still greyed out. I've uninstalled and reinstalled DoW2 retribution and tried updating a clean install and it's still not working, the front page still just says Elite v2.1 so I am stuck, I don't know what the problem is with it.

Also just as an aside, is there a way to uninstall Elite Mod without uninstalling all of Retribution?

I really want to start learning Elite Mod but I can't even get into any games so, this is frustrating. I can't see where I'm going wrong.

Uninstalling DoWII shouldn't be necessary.

I dont think ELITE overwrites any vanilla files.
And installing a new ELITE version just overwrites the old one.

Hm, just to be sure.

Go to your dawn of war ii - retribution folder under

steam / steamapps / common

and check if a folder in there is called

ELITE or Elite_beta
