Hello,
I have recently started playing the Elite Mod. In 90% of the games, be they online matches or vs AI, the game crashes.
About a minute before the game crashes, sound effects cease to work and audio is completely out.
I am playing the latest beta 2.11.
I am using the german version of the game if this has anything to do with it.
I would greatly appreciate the help and thank you for all the hard and great work.

Re: Audio problem causes game to crash
And you only get that problem in ELITE?
Not in retail games?

Have you tried to verify the game cache? ( right click on your game in your steam library --> properties )

Have you tried playing on english settings, just for testing purposes? ( even though I dont think it has anything to do with it )

My best guess would be that your graphics card might run hot? But thats just a wild guess; not having too much info sofar.

Yes, this problem only occurs in ELITE. Never happend in retail.
I just checked the game cache and it came back ok.
Maybe I am doing it wrong, but there is no possibility for me to change the language settings.
I will try to recreate the problem and check the GPU temperatures.
I just remembered that I enabled -disablepagefilecheck as I have 8GB of RAM which definitely is enough. Other than that I pretty much installed the game, some time later the Mod according to the README and that's it.

Under Properties / Einstellungen ( again, right click on the game in the steam library ) you should be able to select your language;
but again, it propably has nothing to do with it.
Maybe your installer just got corupted during download?
Have you tried re-downloading, and re-installing?

Re: Audio problem causes game to crash

It's just one of the many bugs in Dawn of Bugs 2. It happened in retail too.houseunit wrote:Yes, this problem only occurs in ELITE. Never happend in retail.

The issue was in retail as well indeed.
AFAIK the issue has never been solved and still occures from time to time.
Having Steam and DOW in different languages caused crashes and sometimes prevented the game from even starting.
Regarding the page file, I thought the game required it no matter how much memory you had available.

Re: Audio problem causes game to crash
It is infamous. It is incurable. It is the Great Evil of the galaxy.
When the End Times come, it will live on. When the Chaos Gods conquer Terra and consume the Emperor on his Golden Throne and extinguish humanity with his last breath, it alone will endure. For it is eternal, as undying as the stars themselves.
The High Lords and Chapter Masters of the Adeptus Astartes whisper its name in hushed tones, lest they unknowingly draw its fiendish attentions. It is the one true fear that prevents the Chaos legions from spewing out of the Eye of Terror, consuming Cadia and retaking the galaxy they once conquered.
When it chooses you as its victim, your hearing fails you. You have just enough time to let your fellows know you have it before it consumes your lifeforce, stripping away your very essence for all eternity.
It is inevitable. It is immortal.
It is the Sound Bug.
And it is fucking annoying.

Re: Audio problem causes game to crash
I have checked the GPU temperature throughout my last games. They were alwas low. To avoid lag due to gfx settings I set everything to low - medium settings. Just in case.
Thanks to Orkfaeller I can finally enjoy this game in english and until now there have been no more crashes.
If it is as Raffa says though, than I will accept my fate and live with the occasional crash. In time the fine Techpriests at the Adeptus Mechanicus may come up with a way to fix this hinderance.
Until then, I shall kill some more Xenos in His glorious name!
Thanks for all your help!
