This mod is very good. i hope there will be made also tau (no replayicing IG ,normal new race ) and do something with lefting corpses. This function is bugged- not all bodies lefting.Also will be nice to give us choice of main menu skin.All units are cool ;Grey Knigts are great, and changes are nice.
thanks for all team !
sorry for my english.(from poland) :mrgreen:

Welcome to our small community;

Tau are propably on the to-do list, together with Necrons;
but I wouldnt expect them in the near future.

Only ranged units leave corpses behind.

Melee units ( units with a melee charge to be precise ) would cause bugs;
sadly, I dont think thats something that can be fixed.

Necrons are definitely off the table I think - been speaking to Bloodravage and the only stuff actually able to be put in game are the warriors and the monolith. Shame.

What technical issues could those be? There are a lot of units in the game already without technical issues blocking any of them...

But who would want to play a faction consisting of Warriors, Immortals, and the Monolith?

As lulgrim says, no real issues getting what's there in game.

Just what is there are warriors and the monolith.

So anything more than that needs modelling, animating, texturing etc...

Tau is much more likely I imagine as most of the units are already in game, there's also an unused broadside model that just needs some firing animations added to it and should be good to go.

The main problem would be the animations. I'm sure someone could manage a bunch of Necron models, but in 5 years of Dawn of Lul 2 there I have yet to see one new type of unit built and animated by modders. The most advanced shit we have is the GK weapon animations, some of which are abrupt and low-quality.

So that would be quite a frontier to conquer, especially considering how complicated non-human skeletons would be to animate. And the sheer number of sequences - moving, attacking, specials, "spell casting", getting tossed around, dying in different directions, sync kills, sync deaths...

That truth. It hurts yo. It would probably take a a good 2 years before necrons could get their own animations if someone could professionally work on it. But i doubt it.

I can't see why it would take 2 years, but we don't have an animator so...

No way to use existing animations?

Just; lets do a bit of theory craftin^^

Vehicles aside, there seems to be two kind of necrons, ones with rifles and ones with staffs/spears.

The Highlord
Cryptek
Necron Lord
Lychguard
Tryarch
and Pariahs
all use a Staff / Spear / Halbert of some sort; and walk pretty upright.

Deathmarks
Immortals
And Warriors are all weilding heavy Rifles.

The Rifled ones can obviously use WraithGuard animations.
Is there no other unit in the game the spear/staff Necrons can get rigged to?

Oh and Wraiths can just use Ravener Animations^^

See, just did like 90% of the work for you, rest should be a piece of cake ;9

Don't destroyers just float too? Maybe you can modify the falcon grav tanks to function and look like the destroyers?

I don't think so, no. Nothing for Flayed Ones either.

Orkfaeller wrote:Oh and Wraiths can just use Ravener Animations^^

I'm slightly skeptical but it might work.

Takadekadaka wrote:Don't destroyers just float too? Maybe you can modify the falcon grav tanks to function and look like the destroyers?

No, they need acceleration/deceleration animations and upper body animations.

Even if all this was solved, IMO the Necrons in DC were pretty boring to play as you just had Warriors/Immortals and Destroyers most of the time. They need some variance which is provided by the new codex but all of it must be scratch-built.

T2 walker --> Canoptek Spyder
T3 tank --> Annihilation Barge
T3 super --> C'tan Shard

if the models are textured and rigged animation is pretty easy, if a bit tedious. i find it a bit frustrating though to get a model made, textured, rigged, and then still have to animate it though.

just hoped something like GK Termis / Maul Chaos Lord might work;

or maybe the Staff Librarian / Sorcerer.

___________

I feel like Flayed Ones move so... "twisted/crippled", I wouldnt be suprised if you just could make them use WraithGuard animations anyway without it beeing too obvious in melee.

For the Monolith I'd actually expect your HQ building to rise out of the ground and become mobile, like in DoWII days.

Like when Indrid calls the Land Raider Redeemer a "mobile base" - but an actuall one.
If it gets destroyed it would teleport back to base position and become immobile again.

I think the Monolith will have to be a call in. Just like the Land Raider Crusader. Id have the Monolith be a reinforcement point only for Necron units. But not a place to retreat to. Also the top cannon (that "crystal at the top or the monolith, idk what its called) would be an ability that does knock back (all but domino and ability) and damage. Idk on how much damage it would be but there it is. Should also be the only reinforcing unit in the necron roster. If it ever makes it this far lol.

What about Dark Eldar and Adeptus? Are they "Makeable"? Don't know, if anyone asked for them. That Forum has way too much Threads :)

I didnt.

Adeptus Mechanicus, Adeptus Arbites, Adeptus Astartes, Adeptus Custodes, all equal contenders.

There are not enough models out there to do Sisters of Battle as a fleshed out race.

Ok sry... I thought It would be clear, if I get them in the same sentence with the Dark Eldar. Because of both coming out in the Soulstorm Add-on.
Doesn't matter. I put all my trust in you guys. :)

Yeep, been thinking about this.

I think, truth be told, most 'animations' for tosses and dying could be recycled well enough...with a few reworks etc. New movement, shooting/spells etc. and certainly new sync kills would take the most work.

My map work is around 98% done, and while I have a few other projects in the air one thing is for certain: I am locking in on some serious software and digging in on some new skill sets next on my radar.

The small indie company I am a part of should finally launch our app, and I will need to provide all manner of skills; animation among others. It may be awhile on my end, but I fully intend to donate something where models and content is concerned next, as soon as I can, so long as the mod and community stick around.

Cheers
