Bottom Tier Heroes
Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
Double strike squads is like double catachans.
It will turn into double CSM next patch though, which is going to be a whole lot of fun.

Lets make Ordo Malleus great again!
Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
AV comes from the lascannon rhino, AI from SS and AM from loading/unloading SS in the rhino and kiting. but why dont do this with IST instead? they can repair and they're still gonna be killier in range unless i'm reading the patch notes wrong

pls no
soul drinkers 2 tacs into asms
the V guy 2 csms into noise marines
and now what?!
Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
My build so far is 2x storms into 2x purgs. Sometimes I add a rhino, or an interceptor against suppression. Torpid was quite surprised how well I did against his orks in our second game.
The first game was obviously a blow out as I didn't quite grasp how I needed to pair off and control the map. The second game however, I did fantastically well and countered his deffdread by the time it arrived at my powerfarm. Unfortunately this game was lost due to that shitty interceptor grenade throwing bug. I fully believe I would have won had that not happened (I was set up to kill the dread and bash his power at the same time).
Anyway, regardless, now that I know how purgs work, its so obvious that unit is made to be used in pairs.
I will be posting my hero diaires later today probably... I have about 40 games saved between the FC, PC, LC, and BC.

Can you upload that game? If you saved it? I'd be interested in watching that myself

I was wondering as I uploaded it why the file size was so small.

Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
In the second game against HolyHammer I have to say that he had some stellar Shuriken play. He was able to lock down the entire top end of the map.

Yep, I had no answer to it for a long time... largely because I was playing PC (have to admit it didn't help that it was only my 2nd game with PC at that point).

Oh nice!
Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
Tex, is a replay pack for FC incoming as well?
As for FC being easily controllable, would it be too much to add supression immunity to battle cry? Or to one of his armour, for example tied it to the sprint ability...

If you're looking for supression counters, there are already Storm shield and Teleporter pack. Considering this, I don't feel that built-in supression immunity (and moreso another wargear-based supression counter) is a real answer.

Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
Both SS and teleport are amazing, but they have their problems. SS require a decent army support which leads to map control problems, as Tex pointed out. Teleport is not available early enough.
I actually don't have that much problems with supression, but that's because I play mainly team games, where the SS shines and map control is less problematic. So take those ideas just like that - ideas, not serious suggestions based on great personal experience.

FC replay pack will be coming shortly, as well as LC and BC replay packs.

Awesome! As someone who enjoys watching some games every now and then, I support this initiative, albeit for all the wrong reasons

Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
Note: Following post is according to what i see/use the weapons for.
With my knowledge of FC, and a I am wondering if Tex experianced this as well, the first wargear choice for FC is crutical since it will usually define what his role will do, like Storm and Shield will yes counter suppression but its a support. Power Sword, counter initiation/supportive. Power Fist, "nuker"" (yes dota term). Thunder Hammer, Hard core counter initiate and anti-blob mainly melee.
Now I only listed the weapons since the armor and accessory can change what the weapon's role is. Like Iron Halo, Artificar and Shield will make FC into a tanky hero with support capabilities but will mainly only be able to tie things up latter on. Power Fist with Teleporter Pack, Tank Killer. Thunder hammer and Teleporter Pack, Anti-blob (Aka Anti-Army if blobbed lol) etc.
In my first paragraph i stated how the first wargear purchase is crucial since (normally) it defines what his role will be. Now what I find with FC (since i dont have vast knowledge of other heros) is that its hard to switch the role of the FC with out burdening the SM eco too much. One of the only other wargear (that i can think of atm) is Warlock Armor of Providence (or what ever its name is that's 200/100).
But I also find FC easy to "force" an upgrade. Like Suppression for example.
Post seems cut short but I am wondering what people are going to say. Hope it makes some sense. And let me in on some Wargear/Eco secrets. Like what do you think about before you purchase a wargear for your commander?

Re: Bottom Tier Heroes
As the hardest working low level Commissar to ever grace this game I just gotta put some quick notes in on the LC.
*Execution is in my mind supposed to be used in conjunction with flare. Have the flare ready to protect an overexposed unit which cannot retreat, or put it down as you give those stormtroopers a well needed kick in the butt and you'll see some proper range dominance from IG.
*LTTE and mines are still amazing globals, with the bunker now viable globals are in a perfect place for LC.
*Turning execution or retreat timer down and the ability becomes to easy to use, when it becomes to easy to use it'll lose its flavour and will become integral in LC play, instead of a added risk/reward. This will in my mind make LC dull to some extent. IG has an abundance of snares and disruptive abilities, use them to protect your damage dealers and you're good to go.
*LC in general feels a bit diluted. I haven't played enough recently to give verdict on it but it feels like he's more dependant on wargear switching than he ever was. (not necessarily a bad thing)
*Layered suppression was a huge problem before the arty spotters got a nerf. In fact, before the arty spotters existed. You damn hipster kids. Seriously though, this haven't been a problem for me so far. Layered suppression cannot be approached directly by IG but need to be harrassed and prodded until it breaks (layered suppression is a big investment) Since a t2 manticore will make your opponent pay through the nose for his t1 dominance, you don't necessarily need to break it in t1; harrass, repair, cap and punish advances. IG is one of the best factions when it comes to staying in the field and LC can support those strengths with ease.

@Black Relic
I feel that a weapon choice is very defining for the FC because his eco is the least forgiving imo.
@Raging Jenni
Thanks for the great advice. I will take every last bit of it to heart.

What I was trying to say in a way. Doubt i said it though right. Since once he purchase his weapon you opponent knows what he will try to excel at and be able to make choice that make the purchase useless. So when i play him i have to watch what my opponent has on the field and guess what he will get. That or wait until i see what he gets and then counter it.
When i play FC in a 1v1 (aside from ASM and vehicles) I like a little buffer before i go up a tier, so ill float a bit just incase i need something immediately since response when playing FC is critical (IMO more so than others). And when i go up a tier ill have the resources to make an immediate upgrade during it all.
But i mentioned this before and i would like to hear other opinions about this, Armor of Alacrity, Power Sword, Iron Halo (this sometimes isnt needed or recommended). Since That is my second favorite FC build. Opposed to my favorite which take a while to get up a running since its Thunder Hammer, AoA, and Battle Standard.
AoA in t1 of course (before ASM and your 2nd shotgun) power sword (after ASM or as you are up grading you tier).
Also. Does anyone find Devs be a bit of a burden when playing FC?

The thing with LC is that he can play different roles. Inq is squishy, LG can ONLY support while the LC can be a support hero and can be a beast of a tank, plus his mega offensive stuff (Inspire Terror and Emperor's Wrath). If you come past t1 he is the best out of the three IG heroes imho.
And I'm not even gonna go into how beastly execute can be at times. The usefulness and mechanics of this hero basically made me fall in love with DoW, and then with the IG as well (both in-game and lore).
He is shit in 1v1 though, that much can be said. He mostly relies on having other units around so you can't really spread out, but is by far the best 2v2 and 3v3 hero of the IG roster imho.

cus he can fuck every jump squad? and in t2 bc stacks with libby's inspiration (wat u bought libby? wow, gg you lost no re) and i find asms kinda bad with him, snipers fuck u apart (sm mirrors- u cant get a dev squad vs eldar in t1, rangers are just that good)
and you dont have the surviveability for asms, and fc can be stopped till he gets close enough.
ps. i wrote this quickly, will probably edit it later

How's fucking with jump squads even relevant? Jumping your squads into Devs is just to disrupt them, who cares if he comes in afterwards? You lose your AOE suppression, and his army can move in to fuck you up right away. It's not uncommon to jump a setup team to immediately retreat or pull back from counter-initiation.
To get Libby's inspiration you first need to kill something with him in melee. Good luck with that , f you're counting on it. Actually, if you got the Librarian (and invested in him, LULz) you lost already. Good going. Worst T2 SM investment ever, by a huge margin.
WTF does FC have to do with snipers vs Devastators? Unless you get a teleport pack, which is T3, wtf can he do while the snipers move in, snipe, and move out? Especially vs Eldar Rangers who can Kinetic Pulse him all over? Even the TM with MC Bolter is better against this threat than the FC.
All this logic are fallacies, FC has no synergy with Devastators whatsoever.
