Good observation and I noticed this one too but deemed it too specific and likely campaign only. It relies on the Bolter_Cover_Bonus sim var but I haven't found where this one is set, it's probably in the campaign code somewhere. The VA script could probably be refined more but I'm not so inclined to change it atm as it seems to be working. Hopefully 2.3 is around the corner and then we can test it on a larger scale.

There is also a campaign hero, the ork k nob, who heals when in cover with a trait.

Allways thought its weird / sad to have a "when in cover..." mechanic in the game ( campaign ) but nowhere used in the actual multiplayer.

Allways thought it could be a nice mechanic for more defensive, elite or hold-the-line-type of infantry.

Do you know exactly which ability/wargear/unlock gives this trait? I can't seem to find anything like that on the knob.

Sure. It's the fourth health trait, called "Real Gud Hidin' Spot" or something like that.

Also, play the ork campaign, it's fucking hilarious 8-)

Yeah I am totally serious when I say that the Ork version of the Campaign is probably the best by a long shot.

Had a look at the campaign stuff, specifically that knob heal ability, and it turns out hooking up abilities to trigger when in cover is well supported without any custom scripts. Just a matter of adding the actions in the entity blueprint under cover_ext\cover_table\<cover_type>\actions. Should have noticed this by now, anyway thanks for the helpful tips.

Here's an improved version without scarring, oh and I had to do some changes to dark excom global since it was requested that it should disable the VA cloak for the duration.

Sooo... no more desyncs?

Awesome job hakon.

Maybe we'll get to see more when-in-cover abilities in the future.
