Dark Reaper new model

Postby David-CZ » Fri 07 Jun, 2013 12:12 pm

I've made a new model for the DRs, but now I don't know if I can make one model for both the warrior and the exarch and have different accessories or if I have to make them completely separate. The latter would mean I'd have to unwrap the shared part twice.

Here is the model of the exarch.

The parts that are different are for example the shoulderpad, the rune, the antena or whatever on the backpack and the head (comes in a separate model).

Another thing is that now the game uses only one file for both model, which means no matter how I'll make the model, I won't be able to make them both appear in the game.

I'm also uploading the exarch's head here:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6RDoPr ... R2NTA/edit

For some reason not all the textures are displayed in the game. Renaming them didn't help. If you want to see how it looks just copy/replace it here:

...\dawn of war ii - retribution\ELITE\Data\art\race_eldar\troops_wargear\heads\reaper_exarch_head

Save the original though.

Looks a lot better than the Dark Retard model we have right now. I strongly encourage you to ask about technical stuff on the RelicNews DoW2 modding forum, there are several people there who've been doing functional models for ages and are quite familiar with the tools and DoW2 quirks.

That's a awesome model. Great work

so i assume you already have it unwrapped textured, and stuff? if so just collapse the stack and split off the parts that are not shared so that they can be attached later. they'll keep the uvw unwrap although you may have to reweight them if they've been rigged.

Thx for tip. This is usefull as hell especially when you make mistakes like doubled vertices.
