True, but I more meant a BIG ability with a long cool down, like storm eagle or Emperor's Wrath

I figured the mention of similarity to the two specified abilities was clear enough in that respect. But yes it would be more damage I suppose.

Whiteshields could be extremely cheap, quick to build, and quick/cheap to reinforce, but with very low damage. Perhaps they can build something from which they (and only they) can reinforce to promote staying power, and to really provide a proper meatshield.

The way i see it, you're just describing GM squads

Well, yes and no - the GM squad is a main line unit that one relies on to fight their battle. The unit I proposed would have minimal combat capabilities but be even cheaper, with the proposed nearby structure for reinforcement (which could have a salvage mechanic so you can relocate it). Would make for an expendable unit for capping and tying up. I can't imagine whiteshields being made in a way which makes them particularly different from gm, only that they would be cheaper, worse in combat, and have unique abilities.

Nobody stops us from assigning a minimal red/XP bounty for them or something to that effect.
Well, you get the idea.

If they wouldn't be red-food and would give GM more staying power - then great. Still sounds iffy to me, hard to fit in properly and elegantly.

I think they'de be more of a 1v1 unit anywhere. IG's main downside in 1v1 is their inability to cap stuff.
Lets make Ordo Malleus great again!

Yeah I'm not really sure what people are getting at with a more expendable unit than Guardsman.

...does that even exist?

It does not yet, but its conceivably possible imo.

And a whiteshield unit would be a great capping unit - you wouldn't miss its contribution in combat so much and it would be very cheap. Combined with the great idea for an ability mentioned in the thread somewhere, which was something like:

'Get Down - unit suppresses itself but receives less damage' (kudos to whoever thought of this I think its great)

...and it would be a lovely means of capping points without taking too large a portion of your firepower away from confrontations.
