Ideas for Culexus Assassin

Please Caeltos don't kill me...

But talking about this in the Eversor feedback thread I thought of a possible Culexus Assassin, to be used maybe in Grey Knight race, maybe in Imperial Guard, a future Sisters of Battle army or whatever.

Model/Animations
The Space Marine / Chaos Sorcerer animations could fit him very well. Their long and ethereal-like stride is very good, and their shooting animation (when armed with staff) could also be used for him. The Culexus is supposed to fire negative psychic energy from his helmet's eye: the Animus Speculum, but for purpose of gaming i don't see why shouldn't he fire lightnings from his hands.

Stats
I picture him bit between 450 and 500 health with commander armor. He has short range and will have to rely in his Phase ability to stand long engagements.

Starting Gear
As said, he would have a psychic ray ranged attack just like the Librarian/Sorcerer with staff. In the boardgame the most similar weapon to a Culexus' Animus Speculum is a plasma rifle, so he could deal 75 dph, 40 dps plasma with a rate of fire similar to a Space Marine's Librarian staff ranged attack, but shorter range, about 28 or 30.
If changing the colour is possible, the Culexus should fire red lightnings in opossition to the normal blue ones, to represent that he fiers negative psychic energy.

Starting abilities
- Psykout Grenades: just like the Interceptor's

Gear Options
These gear options are meant to represent his abilities in the boardgame in a way that he can be useful in DoW II.
- Animus Speculum: it gives the ability "Psychic Aberration" that aims an enemy no-vehicle unit. The power costs 60 energy, deals 60 courage damage and increases the Culexus' rate of fire by 50% for 15 seconds.
- Eterium: it gives the Culexus the "Phase" ability. It works and costs like the Vindicare's infiltration, but instead of infiltrating the Culexus gains a 15% damage reduction and can't be taken objective of aimed abilities while in Phase.

The courage damage ability could be a good suplement for the Incinerators and the new GK Dreadnought.

As mentioned, I think the focus of his role should be based around the effects his negative aura has on enemies. Therefore I think de-buffing and stuff rather than dps should be the focus, but I would like the force matrix to be a nice high damage ability, perhaps one that charges with energy absorbed like ATSKNF charges with damage.

A 40 DPS plasma weapon to start is outrageously overpowered. Not even the TM's plasma gun does that much damage.

Anyway, Aertes, you need to put a bit more effort into these posts I think if you want Caeltos to take any of them seriously or get any inspiration from them. Simply listing very brief wargear descriptions is not achieving much. You make no effort to think about his place in the army as a whole, and in this instance even listed three possible armies for the unit one of which doesn't exist in the game. There's a reason why new units take a very long time to implement; it requires a lot of thought and foresight and understanding of the game. Everything from specific matchups, to timings, to economy, how specific combos will play out, and so on.

You need to be a very experienced player to even attempt this, and even then it's very difficult. Nobody is saying you can't; but you need to put in more than 10 minutes thought or it just becomes your fanciful wishes blurted out for all to see with no rhyme or reason. They clog up the forum and usually quickly go off topic. There was a specific thread for this kind of wishlist post, but it was lost in the warp long ago. You are free to start another, but you don't need a separate thread for each.

Yep, please create a thread in Random called a 'wishlist for...' or a 'would like to see...' and not fill the forum with seperate topics based on the same foundation i.e. 'Ideas for xyz'

Oh, please, the Culexus Assasin would make the entire Grey Knight army come down like a bunch of women with menstrual cramps. That's the entire job description of the Culexus Temple.

He is thought to be a T2 unit, should he be "as powerful" as a basic T1 unit with a T2 upgrade?. I just don't think so.

And I'm very aware of all you said, but that's why I don't create mods, I can't. All I have are ideas and good intentions for whatever they are worth for. I feel happy enough having 1 idea that will be implemented and cooperating for the Spanish translation of the mod,

I see you never read the current rules for Grey Knights in the original boardgame.

No one said it would be implemented. I was just happy to get some support from Aertes. Once this was a wild dream of mine, and it still is except for me actually managing to get Caeltos to consider it in an off-hand comment when he was streaming, which is something I'd never think to hear. So I'm just not giving up on it. Now with talk of other assassins I don't want to miss an opportunity to push this wherever I can.
