Warlock builds?

Postby Interdiction » Wed 19 Mar, 2014 3:13 am

So to those who introduced me to Maestro Casts...BIG THANKS!!! :D The tank-like warlock build(merciless witchblade, champion's robe, heart of darkness) kicks so much ass! That special attack is insane! I was wondering if there were anymore kick-ass builds for the warlock? He's always been my favorite Eldar hero in-game!

witchblade of kurnous, with providence is pretty good. you walk into a melee blob, throw down ethereal slash, then hit providence and do ethereal slash again. wrecks melee builds pretty hard.

also using warp throw to set up grenades, wailing doom, reaper barrage, etc...

Warlock builds?

Postby Nurland » Wed 19 Mar, 2014 5:33 am

Or better yet (with providence) warp throw a blob of stuff into your WL and the slash the crap out of it.
Immolator is pretty nice agaist Nids or IG. Works nice against heretic heavy chaos builds too. Generally though the merciless bitchblade is prolly da way to go.
Warp throw is such also such a great wargear. Great for digging out defensive positions and for combos. Warp throw into shees forces stuff to retreat or die... Or both.

I like to think of him as how am I going to support my army in the most annoying way for my opponent.

I really like 3 DA Banshee and shuriken, one build that's incredibly annoying for HI races like Chaos and SM (works well against IG as well) but not orks or nids, I've been far less successful against orks since big shootas melt DA without the upgrades. Considering this is quite heavy you still want to use the warlock in a way that makes your opponent go FFFFFFFFFFF.

Warp throw does this well. Not sure if I'd call it a warlock build but it's rather a warlock purchase since you're only getting one item.

The idea here is to just throw him into nades or banshee's getting close. Even throwing things away from you is useful. Have a play around with that one.

Lol, that's how I approach this game in general. I also try to pick the most annoying heroes whenever possible. :|

If you use ethereal slash then providence it will be on cool down and you won't be able to use it under providence effect...

About builds: every piece of wargear (except witchblade of kurnous and providence which are inferior in efficiency) does its job quite well. You can pretty much mix everything as long as your WL is leveled enough to afford ability energy costs.

Yeah, I've always thought that Providence should be like the Rosarius, where it doesn't need to charge via damage taken but is always ready after a long cool-down. As for the Witchblade of Kurnous, what's the base-damage on it compared to the warlock's starting sword? Maybe increase the damage of its normal attacks a bit?

According to the codex it is 52 power weapon dps compared to the 32 melee dps on the standard sword.

Hmm, then maybe increasing damage isn't the answer! ;) Maybe give an increase in melee skill or an aura, such as energy regeneration up by 1.5?

Yeah the Warlock is one of those heroes that basically is impossible to screw up wargear wise. Pretty much everything has some use/combo.
