Question Regarding Upgrades/Color Scheme Text

Postby FunkyMonkey » Fri 20 Jun, 2014 8:45 am

I downloaded Codex Edition back around February, and ever since I did, I have no longer been able to see the descriptions of some upgrades. Basically all upgrades that have changes made to them from retail version have the descriptive text something to the effect of "$10010003 No Range" or something like that. I've basically been playing Chaos and SM all the time, so it doesn't really bother me, since I know what the upgrades and wargear do, but when it really becomes problematic when I try to learn new factions.

Furthermore, this whole no range problem also affects the color schemes in the army painter. The new colors that weren't in retail have the No Range problem, as do the new color schemes added by the Elite team, such as the Beta Alpha Legion, Legion of the Damned, and the 2.3 Iron Warriors, Black Templars, etc.

What causes this problem and what resolves it?

Thanks for any help.

A lot of people have this problem and I have had it before. Quite simply it is two or more conflicting ucs files. I got this when I installed Codex mod and the way to get around it is by going to where Steam is installed (likely C:) > Program files(x86) > Steam > SteamApps > common > Dawn of War II Retribution > Game Assets > Locale > English. Within this folder there will be a DOW2.ucs, Elite.ucs and your Codex.ucs (I also have A.ucs, a really small file, what does it do?). Cut and paste the Non dow and non elite ucs to another file outside of your game files, somewhere like documents and label it ucs.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

Pretty soon I expect to solve this problem for 2.3 Spanish version, as soon as I finish its translation.

As Swift said this can be caused by having more than one .ucs file.

It can also happen though if you play DoW2 in another language other than English. The .ucs is installed into the English folder by default, and you need to move it to the folder for your language in Game Assets/Locale/

Thanks a lot Indrid, that really helped.

Now in an unrelated note, I noticed that the Iron Warriors CSM squads don't have a bolter firing sound effect when they do their ranged attack. Is that a problem others are having, or is it just me?

It's a known issue. Hopefully fixed for next release.
