Speaking of Aliens, it is on sale on Steam if you want to punish someone.

Also thanks Gorilla, because i am not buying into that yet.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

I'm getting the game because it's 40k. No other real explanation.

Besides, Planetside 2 but WH40K is just insta-win receipe and even IRL buddies who are big tabletop fans are willing to play. I hope they incorporate alot of empthasize on guilds and general progression and recognition for the hardcore players like in other MMOs.

Riku, even though I have met him, anyone can add him as a friend on Facebook,Twitter or on the forums and ask him questions. Now if you believe them that's another thing lol. I for one will try it. He seemed pretty legit a year ago when I met him and so I will try the game out because of that encounter I had with him. If you have any concerns find him on facebook or twitter and he will gladly answer your questions.

June 25th yeah. I am going to main orks but I will definitely try to play all the races eventually if its possible. I would love to play the salamanders faction of SM. Or some world eaters.

Maybe we, the people here from ELITE MOD, can make a casual guild or group?haha

I'm not a casual player. If I'd play an MMO, it would be hardcore. It's hard to stray away from such competetive nature. I used to play with Nihilum players back in WoW during the older days, and stayed ontop of the top 10 i 2v2/3v3s in arena in Europe.

Hell, I don't know what casual even is. :|

I meant as in playing something casually. If I play something, it's usually always to thrive towards a very high level of play. I usually don't bother doing something half-arsed and playing it just occasionally for the sake of it being fun.

I know. Just placing it there for the lulz.

I only seem to be extremely competetive in FPS's for some reason but in RTS's, the whole game becomes kiddy land for me and I enjoy doing stupid stuff for the giggles

After looking at that store - oh god, the money grab is hard. $35.00 to access a weapon pattern (which from my interpretation, means you've yet to actual own the item - it's just available for purchase from the store)???? Serious? GG, no re thxs.

Edit:
Man, I'm laughing so hard. I still can't get over how stupid that is. I'm sorry, I've been through a ton of F2P models, and I'm well aware of cash shops and I've spent a considerable amount of money on one or two of these game models before. But the fact that you're just getting a weapon blows my mind, and further more because the game's not even released. I've no idea whether this weapon is aesthetic or if it has some added benefit - which would then beg the question of whether or not it's P2W.

What? I believe it's more of a limited-time edition weapon. I think that's fair, if you want to stroke your e-peen over having something that it's in a limited bundle, I think it's fair. It's completely optional and probably only really has visual exclusive, rather than statistical advantages over other weapons either way.

I'm sorry, but I'm hard pressed to think of a game that's done something of this calibre. Critiques have been arguing lately about the idea of beta-stores, but we're talking about a game that hasn't even gone public to that level (or at least from my understanding), yet has already set up a cash shop. Furthermore, when we try to equate the value of that bolter vs. a founder's pack, it's just straight up stupid. For 5 dollars more, you at least have pre-launch access, as well as a few little benefits like name reservations and titles as well as in-game currency.

Or we can buy the rights to purchase a gun in-game (again, you don't actually get the gun, you just have access to the weapon in their store + some in-game currency) and that's it. E-peen doesn't even begin to describe this. How can any sense of justification come from that pricing? If it was something reasonable like $10.00, sure, why not. But I've never seen a game that basically charged me almost $40.00 for a gun skin. Seriously, mind = blown.

I'm honestly waiting to hear a response on this in the next while from different media outlets. They've literally just added a "give us free money" button.

its aesthetic. Its VERY limited (rare) and has no change on balance.

Though I find it ridiculous someone would spend that amount of money on something like that. I am looking from the perspective of a poor person. I also think its ridiculous anyone pays for ESPN, or pays for a single penny to watch sports on tv, or buys anything pokemon, or drinks coke. It doesn't make it ridiculous, per se, its just that (I/me) do not care for such things. If someone has the money and the want they will pay for it.

in the end WHO CARES?! Just buy what you like for however much your willing to spend. Those nerdy 40k guys have LOTS of money believe you me.

But shouldn't it bother you? I mean, stepping outside of this game alone, consider how bad things are like this on the industry on a whole. Essentially, this is accepting new pay models of charging players for in-game items/introducing a cash shop for a game that has yet to even be installed on a single consumer's PC. We're talking about people arguing about the inclusion of cash shops while in "beta" testing - but this is a whole new level of absurd. It's opening up the idea to devs that it's okay to release games and sell content on the precipice of good will and long promises. It's like me equipping my character before I even know how any of that equipment acts.

It would be different if I had this game installed and was able to understand what it is I'm paying for. It's god damn scary, because this is a really hot issue right now, and this will open a whole new can of worms on the subject.

But sure ... from our singular perspective, it ultimately does not matter on the grounds of this conversation alone. Let those who wish to spend, spend. But I cringe seeing this "shop" *cough* robbery *cough*.

But people will actually pay for this stuff. You see loads of people in GW spending a fortune on models, so it makes sense that they spend a fortune on the game.

GW offers an actual property though, your miniatures will still be worth the same price if not more 100 years in the future.

100 years in the future not only EW will be hugely outdated but the servers will have been shutdown a long time ago.

100 years from now, household 3D printers will have killed the industry for retail-manufactured miniatures. Antique GW models will have negligible monetary value. Tabletop is a hobby, not a long-term investment.

Having said that, the EC pricing model is absurd. You are exchanging $450 for a promise to deliver points for content which has never been seen and doesn't exist yet. It's basically Kickstarter for an already funded project, developed by an already established studio. I honestly can't tell the difference between the pre-alpha footage and Space Marine, except for the absence of textures and animations.

If it wasn't for the fact that printing models is the equivalent of pirating software now, so they would still be banned from official competitions and stores.

Software publishers combat piracy using always-on DRM, but there is no "always-on" solution for a tabletop game. Any casual player will be able to build an army and organize games without setting foot in a GW store. Consider how rampant and damaging piracy is to super-sized media companies with millions to spend on anti-piracy measures. Do you really think a niche industry like tabletop gaming has the resources to match this?

But let's go the legal route: if I can "print" a high quality tabletop game designed by someone on the internet for mere pennies, why would I pay GW $200+ for a single model? Tabletop players will flock to the F2P games just like players flock to F2P online games today.
