Brother-Captain's Nemesis Daemon Hammer

Postby SixPointFive » Fri 04 Jul, 2014 11:49 pm

I am pretty new to the game, so I was looking at various weapons for different heroes to learn their damage types in the codex.

I came across the Brother-Captain, and for some reason his Hammer's damage type is "melee" instead of "power melee". Is there some reason for this?

Because it does huge damage and has an awesome ability, it doesn't need to be power melee too, I kind of wish it stunned though like the blood maul.

360 CC KB radius .This DH is underrated now due to Helbard cost reduction ,excellent vs single entities. Especially paired with the whip-Leash wargear

Urza, I guess you come from the boardgame. Don't let the damage types used in DoW II videogame mistake you. It's true that thunderhammers have more in common to power weapons in the boardgame, but heavy melee weapons have their own set of characteristics and are powerful enough in the videogame.

i wouldn't say it does huge damage its single target vs normal infantry is only slightly better than the halberd after you take into account the splash and it is weaker than the halberd vs heavy infantry.

you get it for the ability. the 100 dps is just so that it is a competent weapon between cool downs .

It does a lot of damage per hit. But yeah, the ability is the main reason to get it. If you wish to go killy mode, Halberd is the choice. Hammer is more of a blend of killing things and disruption while da Staff is a support weapon.

Normal melee damage is not bad.
it does full damage to almost all infantery types (exept Commanders and SHI)

so it does its 100 dps, which is much - jsut no bonus damage to e.g. space marines.
