Chaos Terminator Voices

Postby Phantom Revenger » Fri 11 Jul, 2014 4:08 pm

So, I've been playing a fair bit of Chaos lately (Malal warband for fun) and I've been using Chaos Terminators fairly consistently. I was wondering, do Chaos Terminators have any dialogue? I've never heard them say anything and was wondering if it's because I've had attention elsewhere if they do or if they just plain don't have lines.

I thought they used CSM voices? Maybe they say nothing and I hear background dialogue? The campaign never has any Terminators in so there are no voices for them.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

AFAIK Chaos Terminators have Chaos Havocs voices/dialogue.
"Pater, peccavi in caelum et coram te; iam non sum dignus vocari filius tuus". Dixit autem pater: "manducemus et epulemur, quia hic filius meus mortuus erat et revixit, perierat et inventus est"

There will be no forgiveness for us.

...I just remembered my Chaos Terminators saying something in the Havoc voice, yeah. Sorry, guys, my memory's awful for this kind of thing so I was thinking my warband's Chaos Terminators were just the silent badass types.

Don't the SM terminators essentially have near identical dialogues as the tacs, except their pitch is lowered?

I think even if the CSM terminators still have the same lines as the havocs, it would help if their pitch was lowered and maybe at some echo/delay/distortion to make it sound warp like.

Just some thoughts.

Not as far as I know. I distinctly remember the SM Terminators having 'Terminators!' and 'Terminators taking hits!' in their dialogue. They might have some recycled Tac lines, but I doubt it because of their voices being distinct.

Also we can't really do that with the CSM Terminators because we have to use lines that are already coded into DoWII. That's why all the Grey Knights stuff recycles lines from SM units (and IG for the IST).

The great Santos released a sound editor tool (google it), haven't tried myself but I think changing the pitch and stuff is very much possible.

Yes, it can be done very easily.
I even use it for my voice in my live streaming.

I will probably add some extra effects for making it sound more like a Terminator, but it's not a dificult job by itself. The real problem is... in what format do you need this voices? I have no idea.

It's a tool specifically for dow2. The sound files uses the fsb mod container http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FMOD

Yeah. Here's a link to the most recent version if you want it. The link in that thread is dead.
