Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?
Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?
I feel like the WL should keep its melee resistance if it upgrades to a Brightlance because it's not actually replacing a portion of the walker's melee weaponry like it would be with, say, an AC or Melta Dread. The Brightlance itself should be nerfed, either with reduced overall damage or disabling it during melee combat.
Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?
With that kind of logic, let's make the AC upgrade be on top of the dreadnought shoulder too.
That way he doesn't have to lose melee resistance since he keeps both his melee arms!

Too bad the mechanicum is too dumb to do that.
Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?
This thing only does 20 dps, AV only*, and it's continuous damage not burst damage. I don't think anyone would ever buy it if it took away melee resistance AND it couldn't FotM. If it really needs to be nerfed, I'd say decrease its range (and don't let it fire in melee ofc... everyone agrees that's unintended, right?). Personally I treat it similarly to a melta dread - don't engage it until you're sure you can beat it, and immediately back away transports the second you see it - and I tend to do OK against them.

if we go that route , i want an infantry wiping aoe attack for the shuri upgrade
Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?
I haven't read the whole thread but nobody seems to be mentioning the WL's lack of versatility.

I think we're all discussing on how he's too versatile.

What do you mean by lack of versatility? He retains melee resistance post-upgrades and has 2 great shoulder mounted weapons. He can either own Infantry with splash damage and shuriken cannon or dominate all other walkers with rapid-firing 100% brightlance av before getting in close for a melee fight.

with upgrade choices I meant
two very straightforward weapons with 0 utility

Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?
Are you for real or a major troll? One upgrade grants you good ranged anti-infantry damage and the other gives you ranged AV on a walker. Both upgrades do not affect the melee effectiveness of the Wraithlord. It keeps all his melee damage and the melee resistance.
If that isn't enough utility then I don't know what is.

Are you talking about his lack of abilities then? He has no abilities but he compensates this by being the best walker in the game.

Lack? He has the wraithbone ability in t3 which makes it combat ready before any engagment in a few seconds, it's even better than the regenerative hp of the TG.

Derp, forget about it. Was thinking about T2 only compared to the other walkers

Comparing each walker's atack-move matchups in a vacuum is silly.

Re: Is Wraithlord balanced wrt to other walkers?
If these walkers an firing in melee, cant someone just add a modifier that reduced the weapon range of the melee walker by 99% for like 2 seconds so it doesn't fire? Or maybe disable the hard point (a specific weapon) so it doesn't fire at all in melee until 2 seconds have passed since its last melee hit? Works for me. I did the first option in my mod.
