Hi,
How do I counter multiple (three) tyrant guards as SM in 1v1.
My opponent went 3 hormagaunts with warrior and HT...brought some upgrades for the hero.
I went one tac+ two scouts with shotguns+ dev+ hero unupgraded...problem is he never fought..took minimal losses and just used the hormas to cap and retreat the scouts..while used the warrior and the upgraded HT to tie up my army..
i protected my power but then couldnt attack his..
I went dread and he came with two tyrant guards...i killed one...upgraded my tac to ML.
Now he came with two and didnt get in to a fight..i lost my power in the previous one and soon he had three tyrant guards... i lost the game...but im not sure how to counter three tryant guards...they killed the dread...one ML and one LC HWT cud do nothing...on hindsight i should have gone LC and plasma tac perhaps...but any ideas ..how to counter multiple tyrant guards...

Considering how he set up everything it should have been quite easy, you did well in T1, also if he didn't fight back you should have considered getting a flamer and camping his powerfarm with devs behind, then in T2 the dred (now that it has melee resistence) does well vs TGs, and also you need to keep it melee vs his build and hero, by that point you could switch your dev to lascannon and tacts to plasma, use the dred to force off his hormas before he reaches your las devs and then focus 1 tg with las,plasma and the dred, like this you shouldn't have a problem killing 2 TGs, and if he was a nid that played turtle in T1 just push his power.

I played FC.
I went ML on tac and LC on HWT. Maybe I should have gone plasma.
I couldnt get any upgrade on hero by that time..but I generally go Hammer+ artificer+teleport to counter their AV.
I understood the mistake I made was to not hit his power but I tried to regain the map control. I will do that. He was not exactly turtling but rather capping without fighting and losing hormas. While his Hero who he upgraded and the warriors was keeping the rest of my army busy.
Tier 1 was ok but by the time I got dread he got two TG. I killed one but lost my farm. By the time I had that roster he had three TG in total and his army was numerous...3 gaunts warrior +3 tg whereas I had asm tac 2 scouts and Lascannon. Prob is las cannon had to retreat and tacs got involved in fist fight ..asm threw a melta but now the dread was against three TGs.

1. Does sniper work agaisnt TG
2. is it better to get two tacs..one missile one plasma and keep the suppression

Well if you were fc the thunderhammer with battlecry would have pretty much soloed those hormas, it's extremely effective against blobs, especially melee blobs, I don't really see how he could bash your farm with 3 hormas once you have all that anti melee on the field, force those off and then the TGs shouldn't be a problem for the rest of your army, you could even go sterns to retain some quite good damage against the TG while having amazing anti hero/anti infantry.
For the rest rush a pred and there's nothing he can do beside waiting for a VC carnie.

I think my mistake was using the dread to counter the TGs. I should have used the dread to make the rest of his army run away and then fight later.

Yes that's correct, the TGs can be kited quite well, forcing off quickly hormas/warriors an w/e will prevent them from capping the map or bashing your power, even if you don't aim to kill them when they come out that's not a big problem aslong as you force off the rest, meanwhile you can keep teching up and eventually they will be a burden once the preds start rolling out.
