A question to Paypal users

Postby Symetric » Mon 08 Dec, 2014 2:28 pm

Heya, its me again, askin off topic questions, cuz i get good answers here^^

Anyway, this time its about Paypal. Usually i go pretty good with Paysafecard (for those who dont know: simple said, its kind of a Prepaid-handy card for the internet, without giving ANY things like name, bank, etc.) in Steam, but elsewhere it gets complicated. For example i cant donate (namely the Elite mod team and some others i would gladly thank for their service) and some games and shops (lately the Eternal crusade game^^) cant be buyed without creditcard, direct banking or paypal.

Since im trying to give as few as possible infromation on the Internet, and got no credit card, heres my question: would Paypal be a good option? As far as i understand it, you put some money on an account and then you can buy whatever you want with an extra tax (not sure if that word fits in there xD) on every time you use that service. Does this work well? Are there many problems? And does Support work well?

Or do you say: "meh, just go for direct banking/debit procedure"

Thanks for the answers!

Paypal is definitely safer option to stay anonymous when paying online. Especially when buying something from websites/companies you don't really know I'd recommend paypal over giving them your bank account information, and even with large and well known companies *cough*steam*cough* it's possible that they'll get hacked one day and some1 might acquire your accont information that way ;).

In practise you either transfer some money to your paypal account and use it to pay for stuff or you can link your paypal account directly with your bank account. The problem I've had with the second option is that when your credit card expires and you automatically get a new one, it still has the same numbers on it and paypal thought my card had expired so it didn't let me use it for a while. The problem fixed itself later tho, might've just happened cos my card wasn't a real credit card (it works just like a credit card but doesn't allow your account to go on the negative = debit card?).
And yes, paypal takes it's little "tax" everytime you pay for something.

Customer support worked well and did what I asked within a day or two the one and only time I've used it.

Hope this helped. :P
