    Leman Russ "Vanquisher" weapon family changed from autocannon_tank_pvp to autocannon_av (custom) so that it will now prefer vehicle targets


I apologize if this has been asked before. But could the GK Rhino lascannon also get this treatment?

Hi nuclear

I don't think the "sniper formation" is so straight forward. Rangers have "eldar" formation whereas scouts have "default" formation and I can't find anything in the upgrade that changes that

With regards weapons teams, eldar shuriken cannon have eldar formation, sm devastators have default formation. The worst of the bunch is IG hwt which has heretic formation

If it is IG hwt formation you hate the most then that should be changed to eldar or default formation, with eldar seeming to be the best one. Likewise for sm and chaos; provided you are happy with shuriken cannon formation

Edit - also the other members of the team could be given longer range weapons

One other thing I have noticed is that IG hwt and chaos havocs don't have their sbps combat behavior filled in properly. This really is just for the Ai but means they continually set up and de set up. I think this needs to be copy pasted from devastators

what i'm referring to is the behavior controller that prevents everyone moving into attack range. scout snipers and rangers both have this and it causes issues for the former because they always have it, even with bolters. this would prevent members of setup teams from moving forward when an attack order is issued. i'm not sure where this is set or what it's actually called.

out of curiosity, what do tacs have? i'm wondering if the formation file you found is what causes expensive squad leaders to lead.

At Nuclear

In sbps there is squad_combat_behaviour_ext and squad_formation_ext

In formation there are lines for formation_default (which I think references to a separate folder attrib\formation which describes the pattern of formation) and there is squad_distribution. It is probably distribution that makes the tactical sergeant charge out in front.

In squad_combat_behaviour_ext there are lines for "leashes" and a sub-folder for plans.

I cant see anything special about rangers or scouts in there except compared to the set-up teams they dont have an entry in the "set up plan" line which i would have though they would

the thing that really stands out is that whoever programmed IG at relic added a 30 idle leash distance to all their units including HWT. IG HWT also have a 20 mellee leash distance.

All races except eldar have a 20 mellee leash distance (including sm scouts). Eldar were obvioulsy programmed by someone else because except for banshees they have very short mellee_idle_leas and mellee_leash distances.

So ... might be worth trying to reduce the idle_leash distance and mellee_leash distance on the set up teams. Eldar seemed to have been the best programmed all around

(which is why need to know if any of the race set up teams are actually fine)

Or of course I could be looking in completely the wrong place
(in editing this I realized there might be something in the weapons that the "other" guys carry)

Could you make it so all races have that then? Instead of only Eldar?
Hate backing up with scouts, to shoot, but just walk into melee when you hit attack.

I believe the issue does not come from this as rangers and d-cannons can also behave oddly and have their secondary models move away when commanded to attack.

Well if rangers do it too then "sniper formation" is not the fix

Probably still worthwhile Lulgrim or Adratus adjusting the mellee leash lengths for squads that should be shooting instead of mellee-ing (I assume Asmon means the secondary squad members move to shoot rather tan mellee in the 2 eldar examples he gave)

What would it look like? What is the ideal image? What is the destined tactical orientation & disposition of such "movement" ?

What are the numerical figures in consideration to the issue relevant at hand?

The summer is luling our projects right now, I'm traveling with only a Mac for now and beta feedback has also been slow compared to previous ones, late July to early August I'd say.

I'm not sure how other hero's spells work, but the Apo's heal stops all other movement. Would it be imprudent to let him keep running/fighting while casting the heal, or would that be out of character for hero abilities?
