scaling abilities, thoughts?
the Apo's heal gets better every 2 levels, imo this is a rly cool mechanic and it is a shame that it isnt in effect on other abilities. An example is the warlocks destructor; its a nightmare in t1 when aimed properly and can wipes tonnes of infantry if combo'd with kinetic pulse or immolate however t2 and after it loses its effectiveness quite severely( this is presuming it is an even MU and even skill level).Another example is the pc's heal and the mek's battery pack which scale pretty bad into t3. As the title says whats your thoughts, obviously this is a major balance change, but im curious to see what other people's opinions are on the matter

The mek's battery pack scales fantastically btw, it heals 400hp a model, like wtf? Imagine if the apo's heal did that. Obviously this is balanced by the fact that ork models die incredibly fast and most don't even have 400hp each. It still overperforms as a 100/20 purchase for healing nobs though.
Scaling abilities would mean we would have to nerf the abilities in the first place (in t1) for them to remain balanced else it's just a huge buff really. I would be fine with making destructor less effective in t1 and more effective as he levels because frankly it is ridiculous in t1 especially vs heretics. It changes the chaos/eldar MU so much all on its own it's silly.

yeah it was really just an idea, and if implemented would have to be suttle because of the massive changes it would cause, did not realise the mek's battery pack scaled so well, though i dont play a lot of orks so its def down to experience, ty for the respond and as i said this was merely a cool idea

Battery pack heal was reduced to 150 per model which is more than enough for most Ork squads. It also restores energy and can be used on vehicles.

Tbh I think it's just because my 1v1s never get to T3, I either lose them in t2 or win them in t2 and I never play mek in teams really... Plus I still play retail and I do often go mek there.

Back to topic, I find interesting that abilities based in raw numbers could scale with levels.
In this way, abilities like Warlock's Destructor or Plague Champions Breath of Nurgle could keep it effectiveness through tiers and be increased with levels.
It would require a fuckton of work re-evaluate that abilities, how they would scale or even consider if they would scale.
Still, It could create a snowballing effect and make the game punish you more if you make a mistake.

I really like the idea of scaling abilities as well. It would be awesome if waaaugh or worship or stuff like that got better with levels. Right now the only scaling abilities I can really think of are all of the synapse bonuses from nids, which really puts them over the top in scaling imo. It would require a lot of analysis to determine which abilities should scale and by how much, but I think it could potentially add a lot to the mod
