In what situations is it worth to get the assasin balde?

The most obvious situations are against jump troops (which knob struggles against compared to other ork heroes) or against heavyweight commanders (trippa shot is a very good ability). But if you can get sneaky, assassinate ability is amazing.

Overall, I'd recommend it more against power armors because his default gun is very good vs light infantry.

It's tremendously effective vs tyranids alongside a loota and a painboy. The nids cannot beat you at range, the painboy+sluggas+KN slaughter ravs and you can pop warrior models in a flash with assasinate. You can even stun the barbed strangler model of the warriors if they go for that while they get suppressed by the loota and shot to bits. Also the trippa shot makes a hive tyrant's charge pretty useless and helps a lot vs a feeder tendrils lictor alpha. Plus, assassinate is excellent vs zoanthropes.

Get it vs nids :D

Thanks guys! I asked it 'cos i was not really sure that it is a viable choice in general (losing the ranged efectivenes) but befor you replyed i had a 3on3 game where my lane opponent was a bro captain and I was like meh lets try it - and indeed trippa shot + the suprise 250 damage gave me at least 3 kills on the poor brocap :P
Aniway, his other weapons are completely situational (like the knife) or there is a weapon that is relyable in general?
Or are there any other wargear ability combos with the weapons he can get his hands on?

almost all of the Knob wargear is situational. hes a very situational commander and can be a bit tricky to play.

How come? Have you ever tried to lure a jump squad to jump on your loota boyz and immediately throw a stun grenade upon their landing? Then suppress anything that shoots at your lotta boyz with your 2x big shoota boyz and decimate this jump squad who is practically useless while your loota boyz don't take any damage, add in this combination a painboy and your chances to keep loota boyz on the field are even greater. Anything that can stun in this game is a very good thing against jump units by default. Come T2 you have a weirdboy with his OP stun and you get the point, don't you? I don't try to say that I've just brought an unbeatable strategy, I just think that it is not right to say that KN is ineffective against jump units.

Dat knife can cure many tough situations. Especially those involving hard to control heroes.

I mean yes, most skilled KN players prefer to stick with his ranged attack and will skill shot the stun bombs in T1 (in order to keep his amazing ranged bleed potential and save resources), but for somebody wanting to take advantage of having invisible sluggas without quite possessing the skill to use stunbomb effectively in t1, the knife is definitely for you.

Buy it early, use both abilities often (more so trippa shot), get another shoota squad to cover the lost dps, and you will be wowed. Just remember not to lead with your squishy little knob.
