Tips and tricks for Orky Orks
Hey guys! I just returned to DoW 2 after I found out about elite mod and its been great! Fantastic mod. I started playing with Orks because I played with them after DoW 2 release and now I am a bit lost. I dont really know proper build orders or when to tech up and improve units with gear. And my commander control is a bit shaky. I always end up killing my warboss and never seem to get lvls. If you guys could give me few pointers on build orders and tactics I would really appreciate it. Also if there is someone willing to play with me and teach it would be great! Thanks in advance

Re: Tips and tricks for Orky Orks
Well for My Baby's First Orks, building two quick shootas into some big shoota upgrades is about as vanilla as it gets. You'll have a lot of ranged dps as well as getting a supression on demand.
Follow that up with another squad asap though as just that will rarely hold. I'd suggest a painboy at this point since his heal will probably help you save squads from dying for when you inevitably forget about them
Be warned though, that his heal is not like the apothecary's. It needs time for it to take full effect.
In t2, look at making sure your squads all have nob leaders and look into a deff dread and some tankbustas. The dread is very fast and if you upgrade it, is very powerful against enemy generators. The tankbustas can provide you with basic a-move AV but their ability is very good at knocking suppression teams off and doing good damage to anything not paying attention.
After that, t3 is your oyster. Flash Gits seem to be doing very well right now but there's nothing wrong with a Looted Tank or Nobs.
If you're just coming back though, I'd recommend just playing against the AI for a game or two and then asking around the DoW Elite Beginners group for bros. Otherwise you can just get into the first 3v3 you see and just hammer games out till it all makes sense again

Re: Tips and tricks for Orky Orks
Thanks Atlas! I have played with my friend 3v3 with random players and I get wrecked almost all the time. I usually build 2 shootas and then a Loota. Teching up and choosing the right gear is the hardest part. To me it seems shootas die so easily but my unit preservation is probably the one to blame. Should you use warboss really offensively or more passively until you get gear?

Re: Tips and tricks for Orky Orks
Without knowing your opponent, by himself the warboss is fairly tanky but a supression team will shut him down hard. Get Angry Bits for the charge that'll help him deal with those guys.
As for getting swamped in melee, he has the Stomp ability right out of the gate.If that doesn't prove to be enough, check out the Spiky Armor! Not only does it hurt opponents who attack the warboss in melee, but he also gets increased health regeneration on top of it.
If you're having problems with a more mobile, ranged focus army consider the Enhanced Kustom Shoota. It turns the Warboss into a hybrid ranged/melee hero so while he closes in for melee he'll have a much better time peeling off models with his gun. The ability also knocks downs and damages a single entity (usually enemy heroes at this point) and combined with another unit can easily force off most of them.
The Warboss has plenty of great wargears though, but that's the super basics of his early wargears. If you want a more comprehensive guide on all of them, check out the Codex! It has information on most(not yet all
) of the units in the game and is a good way to get raw info.

Thanks I'll try your tips! Huge ranged blobs are sometimes tough for me. It would probably be helpful to play other armies too so I'll learn their units and abilities. Countering would be easier
Re: Tips and tricks for Orky Orks
are you watching any replays of other ork players? like indrid or maestro on youtube?
if your playing team games, I play A LOT of warboss as orks are my favorite race, and you can use that to help you.
If you check my past broadcasts you can find lots of games of me playing the warboss and you can see what I buy and how I tech and in what order.

after that you can ask me or anyone here of why I bought certain upgrades or build orders. Same for any video from maestro or indrid.
Remember there is a huge difference in what you buy and when you buy thing in team games versus 1v1 games.
