Why so few Tyranids player.

Postby bibotot » Mon 23 Feb, 2015 9:41 pm

I just find it weird that not a lot of people are playing Tyranids lately. I don't know why. I mainly play 3v3 and Nids show up in one in three matches, or even less. Out of more than 300 games I have played, I have seen a Swarmlord just once. Once.

I just want to ask why this race is so underused. I find them very powerful, or sort of because I have the least experience in the dealing with them (because I don't play with them that often).

I don't extreamly like nids just because of their backround voice, the hive mind. It just talks for too long even with short sentences. Annoying.

Secondly, they are not cool. They are just bugs you know.

Tyranids aren't played much because most people just don't like them.
People play this game not because they want to win games but because they love the 40K universe.
That's why you see many people play with SM, since they are the poster faction for 40K.
Even though as you've said yourself, Nids are extremely potent as a race ^^

Agreed with previous posts. Relic made nids really cool but still, it's just bugs. No epic voice lines, no pathos. Just bugs with a lot of teeth and bioweapon

I have been playing Tyranids in Retribution retail, until recently playing Elite. In Elite, the Tyranids race actually seems stronger.

I like the Tyranid models (Carnifexes are too cute) and the whole biological weapon trope. I have no interest in Alien, StarCraft, or any other fiction where people want to claim similarity to Tyranids.

Why wouldn't I play Tyranids? imho the Termagaunt squads just look weak. They look like they'd lose in a shoot-out to a squad of slugga boyz. I'd also stop playing if the Tyranids end up being an underpowered race in a balance update.

Whole idea of Tyranids, space bugs and swarming race, was stolen by Blizzard when they created Starcraft. Some kind of revenge after they didnt get Wh40k licence.

It wasn't stolen by Blizzard as far as I know.
I have no official source, but from what I understand is that SC was meant to be a 40K game, but GW decided to not give them the license during the negotiations. As development was already under way they gave it a bit of another twist, hence the big ass similarities. Protos are pretty much Eldar, Zerg - Nids, Marines - Marines :D

I think most people find Nids boring to play quite frankly. They have few abilities and not a whole lot of units making them very one-dimensional and straightforward. That gets quite tedious after a while. Unless you really love bugs. Hmm bugs.

I don't see any wrong about inspiring from Tyranids to create zergs. But if people starts to complain about " Nid are copy of Zergs! Bla bla bla bla..." it gives me blackrages. Maybe they might not know that Warhammer creates much before than Starcraft but this is just wrong.

Look, Nids are pretty strong in every tier. You can easly overswarm your enemy. Also, they have cool stuff eather. But just loosing to SM or CSM. Who wants to get biocannons when you can get hammers?
