Voices

Probably someone discussed it already, but why only about a half of acutal voice lines for the units in game we hear, when another half is never or extremely rarely used?
It seems there is a Nid for me.

Merely inactive, or were scratched due to how the game panned out from a design perspective, or - the possibility of overloading with voicelines so they had a fall-back plan.

For an ex. CSM heretics have voicelines for plasma guns, and misc. voices that are simply inactive due to there is no such thing as plasma gun, or slaanesh worship and etc. In early builds, they might have tinkered with those abilities, but felt it didn't fit into their artistic vision of chaos gameplay.

Or even the idea, to give the modders ability to implement unused assets into their mod with nice quality and such, but I woudln't count on it. But hey- it's possible.

We're currently looking into alot of voicelines and see what we can add in, and how they can be added. We've already in some of the voicelines, and the next update should contain some more. There are melee grunt voices for most factions, and it's something I'm fond of re-implemting (It used to be in the game at an early-stage in vanilla iirc) but was scrapped as the game passed along. It should add some more immersion to the game having hearing your sphess mahreen or what-have-you grunting when they're swinging their chainswords and such.

There are also voicelines for when they are knocked back, lifted and such - which is probably not the most difficult to reimplement, but hey- nobody knows with reric mechanics, so we'll just have to sit and wait while the geniuses are at work!

That would be so cool to hear new voicelines, even grunts like karate scouts "ha!" "uuh" etc :D

Hi. Are there barriers, such as copyright, from using the voices of DOW 1?

imho, the voice acting for the Grey Knights (Soulstorm), Imperial Guard, and Eldar was inspiring.

Furthermore, It's been said by players on the forum that they avoid playing Tyranids just because the voices are annoying. If it were possible to replace the Tyranid gibberish with Necron-speak, then Tyranids might become more playable, adding yet another reason (albeit small) to leave retail for Elite.

As I remember from DoW 1, Necrons didn't speak anything...
