Awesome! Glad to find another fan of these guys!!

I'll be hard at work in an attempt to implement them in a workable state for the mod. I'm not sure when the next release will be, but I've wanted to do this for a while, and I'll try my best. I don't have much experience with this, but considering that I just got 3ds max 2014 up and running and I've already made the .modelsets for multiple Malevolent squads already, I'd say that progress is going alright.

Since Caeltos correctly guessed what I'm working on - I'll just quickly give a bit of a rundown of future plans and goals. Ultimately, I don't envision this being a tremendously difficult project, since really won't be any need for me to actually create any new models. Rather, the vast majority of work will involve headswaps between models.

The Marines Malevolent are a brutally efficient chapter, infamous for their callous but effective methods, which often cause heinous collateral damage in the form of innocent civilians. Their efficiency is also grounded in their lack of an armory, which means that they no longer possess the ability to make new weapons and armor, and must rely on scavenging and stealing power armor, bolters, vehicles, and ammunition.

Thus, all of the Marines Malevolent squad sets in my custom scheme will utilize either Mark IV Maximus helmets, or Mark VI Corvus helmets. Given their lack of resources, the older a piece of wargear is, the more cherished and cared for it is by the Marines Malevolent. Thus, Commanders and squad leaders will be predominantly equipped with Maximus helmets and armor, while rank and file will have Corvus helmets.

All squads, including Sternguards, will have a no-frills approach to them. That doesn't mean that they will be plain or undecorated - but they will definitely not be decorated with a giant eagle ornament. Stuff like that gets melted down for repairs.

Anyway, will keep you guys updated.

Marines Malevolent Custom Scheme Schedule/Plan

With the help of Wise Windu, I've been able to finally figure out a few things as far as the mod is concerned. So, I'm going to list a quick future roadmap/plan for what I have in mind for the MMs. The main issue right now is that I need to recolor all the Marines Malevolent armors to their specific scheme, which is actually really rare in the world of wh40k.

Image

Without Windu's help, I was basically hitting my head against the wall, but now I know to edit the _tem files. The planned edits will be Sunburst Yellow for primary, Black for secondary, Silver for Tertiary, and Sunburst Yellow for the Fourth color.

This thread will serve a dual purpose of keeping the community up to date as well as keeping me honest: Now that I've made what I intend public, all the more pressure to actually make it happen!

The predominant piece of armor will be Corvus Armor and Corvus helmets, which is grounded in the fluff. I actually haven't read the book, but I was interested enough in these guys to dig up all this information.
1) Yellow for standard troops
2) Red for sergeants

Officers will generally be wearing codex-regulation Maximus helmets with variants being:
3) White for veterans
4) Red with a white stripe for Veteran sergeants(there is a theory that the right pauldron chevron is used to denote this kind of veterancy instead of the vertical white stripe)

The custom helmets will be painted black in the _tem file so that they do not take team colors. In addition, this will mean that if someone wanted to implement Dark_Riku's guide to mod elmo colors, they will be unable to edit the colors of the helmets.

The Marines Malevolent also use an unusual shoulder chevron marking to distinguish veterans from the average squadmates. This is in the shape of a black hazard chevron on the right shoulder. However, I'm not sure if I can actually get the chevron to extend to the corners of the pauldron.

Hazard stripes on weaponry also denotes proficiency or veterancy with said weapon, similarly to the Iron Warriors. However, the Malevolent's striping is denser.

I'm going to try to put striping on bolters for veterans and chainswords as well.

I've extracted this to act as their chapter badge, but honestly, a higher resolution image would do wonders:
