Idea for Team FFA

Hey, first off this mod is amazing and I hope you guys continue support!!!

I had an idea, not sure if possible through the game/map design, how about annihilation mode for team free for all? - currently the only option is VP and the limit for that is 2000...

if somehow the game programming wont allow it, could there be a possibility of removing all but 1 VP? It'd make matches vs the CPU a bit more interesting...it really is fun fighting two separate teams!! (plus with the integration of Adratus's AI for Elite I think it'd be way more worth it too) :)

You can always make custom maps.
(Or request one from the people that make maps and hope the are willing :p)
Or in this case take the FFA map you want and simply remove all the vps.

If you play vs humans just agree on not capping any vps ^^
You can also distribute the map you made without vps to them.

Or hope they can make annihilate (T)FFA in the game.
Let's wait and hear from the modders ^^

The only Annihilation-related mod I'd consider would be removing it entirely...

removing it completely?! there are barely any players online and you are considering removing a feature that allows cooperative and solo play?

I am def not an elite player but I can best an expert cpu very easily, and since the upcoming 2.2 had mentioned adding in the AI mod I think having a team free for all annihilate would add to gameplay. (sometimes its fun to smash cpu with friends who aren't that good)

either way I think it'd be a great addition to this amazing mod, and would add some more replay value I think. but if annihilate is not your focus I understand. (maybe if a modder can remove all but 1 vp from white walls 6p it would serve the same purpose, until then fingers crossed)

I don't see (T)FFA annihilate adding anything spectacular to gameplay. Though I suppose it wouldn't do any damage but I just don't see the point of (T)FFA annihilate.

Anyway as Riku said, you can do maps that force you to play annihilate despite having the VP counter and all.

Roughly 90% of public games (or at least the ones I have spotted) have been VP games since most people find annihilate rather redundant.

the reason I don't like annihilate is b/c the game just isn't designed that way. There aren't buildings to destroy like in dow1. You could send someone back to t2 or 1 essentially by destroying certain buildings. You could lose your entire base, build it again next to your teammate's base and make a comeback. I don't see DoW2 having those kinds of elements that made dow1 a fun annihilate game.

I guess my main argument would be for coop play, my buddies aren't that great going pvp and the vanilla AI is kinda retarded. (hoping that new AI mod addition to this mod will make it a bit more challenging!!)

when we play TFFA, by the time my friends tech up/realize to attack/help me capture VP, the game is practically over. they just aren't that great, and fighting 2 teams at a time is great! (orcs and chaos? ARMEGEDDON STYLEEE) :P

basically the fun factor come in when my friends and I can assemble a strike force and take out each opposing team through rigorous combat! lol I get that the attention is focused on pvp and balance but I doubt it would hurt the game to add it :) (or like I said if someone could re-edit a 6p map changing the VP's to 1 destroyable-vp it would kinda be the same)

I can assure you the AI mod makes the AI better, smarter, more competitive. That said, it's still possible to 3v1 Hards and 2v1 Experts, given 1000 vps.

Hi, about the re-editing stuff, first off all you can't make a VP crush- or destroyable. And I also think that, if you would place 3 VPS outside the playable area, the ai would still try and capture it, hence it would prolly lead to some weird behavior of the ai. (But I could give it a try nonetheless)

There are destroyable vps ^^ Have you ever played FFA? :p

And you can also simply not put any vps up.

why dont you just play 2v1 (u against ur friends)?

the dow2 AI is so abysmally retarded i cant see how the games can be "epic". all the AI does is cap.

2v1 in dow2 is fucking hard so unless ur friends are brain damaged it should be pretty fair

I was doing this to test the AI mod specifically.

Also sometimes I play 3v1 the AI when I'm abysmally bored and there's no one online to play. I do play 2v1 against humans occasionally.

Annihilation is re tar ded.

The fundamental problem with it isn't the A"I" which is so bad it goes through the joke zone back into the not-funny zone (it does make AI games a waste if time, but that isn't exactly an Annihilation problem).

The real issue is that the entire game is designed around VP play and it makes no goddamn sense in Annihilation scenarios. I've heard it said Annihilation was never meant to be in but Relic slapped it on afterwards because of people whining, and I have no trouble believing it.

What I mean is, you are certainly free to enjoy whatever, but I'm not planning to spend my precious time on modding that.
