This is so freakin' awesome! However you have done this I am so fucking pleased. I don't know whether it's just me but I love reading stats like this.

Since everyone forgets, my timezone is AEST (UTC/GMT) +10 hours. AEDT is (UTC/GMT) +11 hours. Hopefully no-one tells me what time any tournament is on.

Yes it only measures how much you generally click on shit and no I can't see any practical way to differentiate "effective" and "spam" actions. Just keep it a simple number for lul purposes.

since you are getting APM from the replay file, the term may be misleading. for example, i cycle through my units a lot (type 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3... ) and none of these actions would show up in the replay file. neither will gauging the distance of an ability - que up grenade but don't click on the ground - and so forth. great work nonetheless!

If your definition of action includes those things then yes, it's misleading. But if we exclude them and others that doesn't potentially alter the game state, such as moving the camera, ordering a unit/upgrade with insufficient resources, chatting etc, then it should be accurate. But yea, as lulgrim said it's pretty much a number for teh luls.
FiSH wrote:2. is there a way i can get my hands on this APM counter program? seems pretty sweet.

I think lulgrim is working on integrating it on the site, so I'm guessing there will be a page were you can submit your replay and get some nice stats.
Torpid wrote:There's a thing called EAPM in SC which essentially negates inefficient actions such as constantly moving through unit selections, or selecting the hq but not building anything, or clicking to move somewhere over and over dozens of times within a few seconds. Not sure how easy that is to track though and then comes the question of what constitutes efficient or not.

For repeated moves/attacks within a certain time frame/location.. I think this can be done.

Welp I finally ran the calculations with all the MRT8 results that seem to be forthcoming. Interesting how it turned out.

I dropped ~100 points vs Pega in those last 3 games :O
Edit: That loss vs Mathis costed me ~50 too!
Well shit :p

Is the skill rating system still being kept up to date? If not, would it be possible to automate the process of entering new games? The chat could be screened for a phrase that both players have to use at least once so it is obvious, that both players want a match to be ranked. You have already implemented quite a few scripts to extract information from the replay files, so I believe this should not be hard. The replay file could be deleted right after all the information has been extracted, so no precious storage space is wasted too.

EDIT:
Also nobody has to bothered to put in the new data all the time. AUTOMATION FTW!

We can still use the rating system for MRTs right?

Riku the last matches to be uploaded were the third Beginners tournament matches by me, and even they aren't done! I'm busy, Lulgrim's busy, the skill rating system is not automated and it's tedious and time consuming. If it were automnated it might be popular, but it's finished as of now, unless Lulgrim comes back to inject some life into it.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

I know... that's what I'm trying to say to Atlas. Granted I didn't use much words :)

We need matchmaking pretty much for anything like this to be useful.
I think It's better off being set to invisible because it doesn't represent much right now.

Yeah, well sadly many MRTs haven't been done, but I don't know about invisibhility since barely anyone looks there anymore. Sorry Atlas, but it's not going to happen unless you can do it.

Somebody with tech know-how get with me one of these days and show me the basics. Then I'll tell you if I can do it or not.

I'd also be willing to contribute my time toward updating the ranking database )
I assume that entails just watching the relevant replays and inputting information on the results? If it's something that requires time but not a lot of coding then I'm totally down to help out on that, I really liked the ranking system while it was active.

What I was trying to say is that if we could tweak the scripts that are already in place to extract the information from the files, we could automate this process. Nobody would have to manage the changes. Unless the ratings are hardcoded, meaning they are not calculated in a automatic fashion.
Just like with the other script I contributed, I would take a look at this if that is all it takes.
