Good day,
Some time ago, I noticed that Catachans didn't have any FX when firing their shotguns, which I thought was strange since other people weren't having this issue even with the same game/patch version. Miraculously, it got fixed along the line and I have no idea how or when. My guess would be when Catachans were ''overhauled''. Nonetheless, I still have this issue with Guardsmen. They don't have any FX when firing their Lasguns. You see the beams, but not the release of energy/light from the guns. It looks rather wonky.
What can I do to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance!

Re: FX Issues
It was noted that Catachans had that fix in one of the patch notes but I can't remember which patch it was. As for the GM FX, I haven't noticed any issues with them yet :/
Re: FX Issues
Oh, I don't think it's a specific issue with the Elite Mod. I've had this since the very first Retribution game I played with IG. I thought I would consult the Elite Mod crew and its community since they managed to fix the Catachan FX mishappen. Similarly, I'd hoped we could find the issue for ''my'' Guardsmen and resolve it hehe.
Re: FX Issues
I had the similiar issue. What I did was skim through my mods folder, and one after another until it resolved itself.
The mod I had that conflicted with it, was the truescale mod, if you have it - I would recommend that you move it elsewhere for the time being. If you don't have it, just tinker around in the mods foldder until it seems to be working.
The folder itself is located somewhere here I believe (ontop of my head for now)
C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Dawn-of-War-2-Retribution/GameAssets/Mods

Caeltos himself deigns to speak to me
!!
Thank you for the reply. I verified all the mod folders for that matter, but only had the eternal war map pack and some smalldemo sga. I had no clue what the sga could be affecting, so I moved it. No other mods either. After doing as you suggested, and testing in-game, the issue is unfortunately still present..
What to do, what to do..

Re: FX Issues
Are you sure you didn't check the folder "ModSamples" , because I believe the smalldemo.sga is located there. Map Packs doesn't sound like a likely issue.
What version of the game are you running? Is there any particular color scheme that doesn't work, or is it every one of them?

Re: FX Issues
I literally checked all the maps and folders in mods, modsamples, archives, assets and gameassets, and displaced any smalldemo.sga file. On top of that, all skins work fine. I had this issue ever since the beta of retribution when testing IG. I'm starting to think it might be some DX bug, or something with my graphical card.
Thanks for the answer mate! We can't give up yet! Gotta try everything

Re: FX Issues
EDIT:
I noticed, perhaps, an important detail. Imperial Guardsmen do not seem to have the fx issue when playing Campaign or Last Stand in any campaign where the Imperial Guard is involved. It only seems to happen in Multiplayer. Perhaps some fx file is missing in the multiplayer folder, which is present in singleplayer files. It seems that validating the game files yields no results either.
I hope this detail might be of assistance.

Re: FX Issues
I have noticed another interesting development. Apart from the Singleplayer and Last Stand Guardsmen, it seems that the Vostroya Guardsmen, that are currently visually bugged, do possess firing FX. The Vostroya guardsman use another model of the lasgun, therefore, leading me to surmise that the regular multiplayer guardsman lasgun is bugged somewhere. All other multiplayer guardsmen, apart from the Vostroyans, make use of the same lasgun model, which in my game is devoid of firing fx.
I would really appreciate any help on this front.

Re: FX Issues
Is your army level for IG 4 or lower by any chance? If so, I think I found the problem. The non-bayonet lasgun model doesn't have a firing FX action attached to it

Re: FX Issues
That is the case. I had a feeling it would be something simple. Could this be fixed, per chance? At least, for the DLC schemes?

Re: FX Issues
If the DLCs have the issue, it's because they use the exact same model as the regular Guardsmen, so fixing one will fix the other. It's already fixed

Re: FX Issues
Thanks a bunch, sir Windu!
Re: FX Issues
So, the impatient bastard that I am, I levelled to Level 5 with the Imperial Guard and got it fixed myself. However, the issue still persists with the Steel Legion skin, and only with the Steel Legion skin. I shall humbly await the fix for the next patch/hotfix.
