Out of Control Vehicles

Postby Slaaneshi Cacophony » Wed 15 Jul, 2015 9:10 pm

Does anyone else ever think that vehicles going out of control should have some impact on gameplay? It'd be interesting to hit a Predator in its rear armour as it's fleeing with that final rocket, only to see it go out of control and knock down a squad of Tactical Marines and possibly inflict damage with its explosion into wreckage.

This happens in CoH 2, out of control vehicles can still shoot whilst they are moving until they explode. It's terrible, I've seen instances of the worst RNG where out of control tanks take out other tanks or expunge infantry squads. I appreciate wanting it to do more, but you may find it frustrating more than funny.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

I think being able to fire their weapons is a bit much but at the very least, vehicles should do some form of knockback if infantry are in their collision path. They already collide with buildings/victory points along with knocking down walls.

I think it's something like pre-death animation like many units have (carnifex, avatar etc) and it should not impact on the gameplay. The only thing it will add is unneeded RNG like in CoH2.

Personally I'd rather have that extra RNG in the game. The vehicle isn't getting straight up destroyed, the killing blow messed something up and made the vehicle enter its final drive to destruction. I support the knockback portion of the suggestion, though if it were up to me I'd have it CoH2 style XD.

Remember the GUO's death explosion.

You've clearly never played CoH 2, Kage ;)

But yeah, I suppose knocking infantry would look funny.

It's actually nowhere as bad in CoH2 as it was in the original.

The sequel at least had a decent minimum speed/maximum out of control time, whereas in CoH1 a destroyed engine tiger could very well do a half circle for a FULL MINUTE while nuking everything in range with it's 88.

Besides, it's not like most tanks in DoW2 have the typical turreted main gun design that this bug abuses so much.

Well, i saw a CoH2 video with t70 who was out of control like 30 seconds and did kill whole squad of grenadiers before blew up.

In DoW2 it will add just tons of different bugs and RNG -> cause lot's of butthurt . Yea, it will be fun sometimes, but sometimes will possible to ruin a game.

Everybody knows, it is not random though -.-

The only RNG part about an OFC vehicle is whether it goes OFC or not. It's speed, turn radius, and what makes it explode is all very well known, unless the vehicle is standing still, then in that case it could turn left or right.

Using a wreak as cover is cool but yeah i dont want a LR crashing into a army and wiping it or colliding with another vehicle and doing enough damage that it ruins the engagement lol

I'm okay with not adding rng like that. There are too few squads in this gameplay anyway, so a tank going out of control and wiping a squad could basically decide a game.

Actually Codex, that's not a plane going out of control, that happens everytime a plane dies :D
