Wraithlord
Wraithlord
I think we should add a free upgrade to the Wraithlord, to give it those flamers on its wrists, or give it the 2nd blaster/flamer, or to add a 2nd shoulder gun to the wraithlord...
Re: Wraithlord
And why is that? If you propose to change something, please elaborate the reasoning behind it.

Re: Wraithlord
the wraithlord is already one of the strongest if not the strongest walkers in the grade. doesn't need any more upgrades imo
Re: Wraithlord
IN 2.2 he is an awesome anti-transport/great at chasing other walkers unit with brightlance.
Or killing other infantry with the shuriken.
I'm pretty sure it's just a wish from TT/DoW1

Re: Wraithlord
Nurland asked a very reasonable question and we await hudhouse's response. Going "hurrdurr he must be a noob who only watches casts" and "yeah he rly sux" is offputting to the OP to say the least, and would discourage anyone who is new to this community from posting further.
If he makes a flawed argument you can try to explain after he posts with good points. Putting him down before that happens is just being mean. Let's play nice now.

Re: Wraithlord
If this where to happen. To were the Wraithlord does get a flamer, instead of it being an upgrade that free which seems a little unfair to me, perhaps change the Wraithlord's wrist mounted weapon from the shuriken catapults to the flamers. Maybe this is what he would like to see.
To my knowledge Wraithlord keeps his melee splash even after he gains his upgrades, not sure what a flamer would do to benefit him since melee splash damages units in buildings.
Would be interesting though to see flames coming from a Wraithlord I will admit.

Re: Wraithlord
IMHO Wraithlord is very good as is it. Don't need a free upgrade.
About the flamer... but the ultra sophisticated and evolved Eldar use something so outdated and primitive like fire in combat?

They don't. This can't get added on the basis that it is very unfluffy (which obviously is slightly relevant just look at dire avengers) while simultaneously having no positive effect on balance. We must also remember the third commandment of making a balance mod: "Thou shalt not not implement whimsical units/upgrades/effects on the basis of shits and giggles."
You may then retort "but grey knights", but then you must also remember the golden rule of balance mod implementation: Do unto the mod only that which would increase your overall enjoyment of the mod in the long-run in a competitive 1v1 setting. Because of the whimsical nature of this weapon and the capricious way in which the meta progresses I think the third commandment is the more important rule to observe here.
Lets make Ordo Malleus great again!

The fire of our will melts even the most resistant armors.

Yes they do ...
Codex 2013 page 103.
Under upgrades: flamers. Like it was in the previous codex'.

the 6th edition eldar codex says fire dragon exarchs use "dragon's breath flamers" on occasion.
burning avatar of khaine
"There are many different forms of Wraithlord, most of which have been devised by Craftworld Iyanden to better suit the warrior spirit inside. " 6th edition.
Wraithlords with flamers is fine fluff wise, it's just completely un-necessary in dow2. the wraithlord is already a backbone the eldar can rely on in just about any situation unlike the rest of their army, piling the flamer option on top of that on the wraithlord is putting too many eggs in the same basket.
Instead give a flamer type option to the fire dragons along with a pure damage with no snare melta bomb so they aren't such a boring unit anymore that no one ever uses.

Re: Wraithlord
their issues have more to do with being expensive to reinforce and dieing all the time. pairs are quite good against melee walkers though.

i'm tired.
Re: Wraithlord
As this is a balance thread, I see no point in including TT in the conversation here.

So unless anybody sees any pressing concerns about the Wraithlord or unless hudhouse comes back to plea his case, I'm going to lock this thread. As it stands it appears all discussion about this topic has come to a halt.
