LF 1v1 G's

Postby Surprise Attack! » Fri 14 Aug, 2015 4:40 am

LF 1v1 sparring partner of similar skill.

Here is a screenshot of my stats.

Image

I have nearly 300 hours but this is very misleading since most of that is last stand and waiting in 3v3 lobbies.

I am pretty bad. Theory wise, I understand the game and can make good decisions, but my micro holds me back a lot. According to Torpid, my micro is so bad that I am physically handicapped. :(

This is not entirely inaccurate since my APM is around 30.

The main barrier to my improvement and enjoyment of the game is that I do not really have anyone to play with. I tend to hold veteran players back in 3v3s and get shunned/kicked due to that or poor stats. In 1v1s, I usually find that I either walk over an opponent who doesn't understand the game, or I get base trapped relatively quickly.

Because of the lack of consistently balanced matches, I can't really enjoy the game and only play on and off. But I realized I can give a shot at being a bit more proactive, so I made a post.

You can improve your micro step by step.

1 - ) Start selecting you squads by pressing 1, 2, 3,... Get used to that. So you can check every unit on the map much much faster. This is a life save in case of some lag.

2 - ) Know your starting units hotkey. EG: a SM plyaer always starts with Tac squad right? When game starts, go F1 ==> '' S '' ==> and press numbers of your units to send them to cap. Press 1, you selected your hero, send him to cap something. Press 2 for Scouts, send them somewhere else, etc.

3 - ) You don't need to know hotkeys of wargears. You only buy them once, not something so emergancy, relax :D But of cource, an IG player straight presses L on his Guardsmen. You will get used to them the more you play with them.

4 - ) Repair is a play of micro, every unit repairs with '' P ''. If you have multiple repairing units like 3 Dire Avengers, do this : Double click on one DA squad, it will select all DA near of it. Then press P and repair your vehicle. Much faster than selecting each of them and moving you mouse to repair button.

5 - ) Always use '' X '' to retreat.

And move on.

Hi, thank you for the tips, but this doesn't address what I am asking for in my post, which is for people who are interested in playing 1v1s with me. I also do these things except for using the F-keys for globals, and my APM is still extremely low.

This is how most games go for me: Enemy/enemies surrender(s) in 10 minutes or I/we surrender in 10 minutes. Not much opportunity to practice. What I do know I mostly figured out playing vs AI. If you remember, we were on the same team in a game like this, I even made a youtube video of it. Sorry about wasting your time :(

Edit: Btw it is better to go for a fast turret than the GM upgrade! Unless that is not what L gets you :(

Well ,this is all because of your unluckyness. But, if only you are able to play with much higher skileld players, you can have much longer matches. Prove that you improved your self and they will let you play. Remember, we only care about player is able to play or not. Skill is lux. For me; having Iron Warrior or Indird in my side won't effect the result of the match since they both play the game real good and know everything about it. But having Forestradio or Dark Riku in my side effects the result since they have unfairly skill. I will open a topic and ask them to be nerfed. :) I mean, of cource the host wants skilled players insted of good players. That still happens to me and I don't mind it. So, even you proveed your self, you can be kicked out of a lobby but it becames much rare than before.

Depending on your timezone (i'm GMT) I'll be up for some sparring. I reckon I'm probably as crappy as you, if not crappier. I'll add you up on steam.

If you want to, I'll be up for some sparring. I don't think we're exactly equal in skill, but sometimes you learn faster by getting your face stomped in.

I wouldn't mind games, but again, I'm really looking for someone around my skill level. I've had Torpid, Nurland, and Crewfinity kick my face in multiple times and I've learned about as much as I can by watching their B.O. and early moves. The problem right now is that I don't actually get enough playtime in to improve my micro, game sense, and execute the things I want to try to do.

I haven't given this game a proper go in a while, and even when I did I was crap. How about we play sometime?
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.
