No the retail maps are not fantastic.. BUT. they are 10 times betta than most of the new maps in elite ... to be honest i think only a few of maxs maps are good like the baal map

take the bad maps out and put them in another file people can download if they want to.. it will make the elite file smaller and faster 2 download for new players

if i had it my way..... i would let people vote for each map 2 stay or 2 be removed... would be the most fair.. let the community decide

I'd also say keep the maps, cause sometimes you just wanna play a shitty map for the lulz, like Armageddon River Crossing or Skull Masha Brackens or Tartarus Harbor or Avensa Stronghold.

Also Captial Spire is not okay, neither is Tiber, nor is Angel Gate or Sicaris Plateau (I still like them) because some of them are just imbalanced. Which makes your statement that the retail maps are 10 better then the new maps kinda invalid. But yes I know what you mean, but I'd still say keep the maps and let the players play the maps they enjoy.

It would be cool if we had like some statistics how often a map has been played on or something to determine which map could maybe be removed from the mod.

I actually like Avensa; it's a fairly straightforward map design.

I also enjoy playing on Armageddon with either the TM or PC because abusing turrets with all the chokepoints on the map is trolltastic.
I swear I'm not as bad as this game as it may seem.

I'd also like to voice some support for the 'crappy' maps. They might not be so suitably for super skills serious play, but some of them are still interesting or fun when you want to joke around with friends or even random people. I'd love to see even stupid maps like Swamps of Slaughter hosted, just to have some laughs.

Instead of removing them however, maybe someone would be interested in making some minor tweaks to make some of these borderline playable maps truly playable? Some of the rarely/never played 1v1 maps only seem to have small flaws like small areas with weird pathing or some missplaced nodes. I'm not experienced at all with the map editor though, and not completely sure why some maps are avoided as they are.

These maps might still warrant salvaging for your dear emperor, mon-keigh.

Keep the maps! Getting loaded into Nids Never Sleep by surprise is always a fun experience :D

Here's my reasoning for what it's worth: someone at some point decided to go out of their way and use their own time to contribute to the Mod. By all accounts the map editors not the friendliest of things, so I think that's worth something, keep their maps around in payment for that effort.

It's a good thing to reward people who decide to make positive contributions to this small community :)

But how about this: if you want a map removed, make something better and swap it out. A map for a map. If they're as bad as some of you are saying they are, it shouldn't be that hard...should it?! ;p

Keep all maps, if u dont like dont play them/ host the game yourself and choose the map yourself.

Make new maps.

Keep the maps because variation is crucial.

I don't agree with removing maps as that could negatively hurt the diversity aspect of map selection. I will admit that there are some very bad maps but that does not warrant their removal. I would say improve them because the more maps the merrier, and I for one actually like playing one of the crap maps once in awhile because it can add a interesting dimension to the game.

Improve them don't remove them because as it stands anyways there isn't a large selection of maps except for a bunch of re-skins anyways.
