Assign several numbers/keys to a single unit

I can't find if this has been asked already, is it possible / reasonably implementable ? Like, key 1 selects unit A, key 2 selects unit B, key 3 selects units A and B ?

It was most definitely possible in DOW 1. It does not, however, work in Retribution.
