Well, I'm starting to get sick of 3v3. The first 3 minutes of combat are fun, lots of micro and decision making. Then it all goes to hell. I spend all this time making choices about where certain infantry will take cover and where setup teams line up their firing arc, then a big beefy point-and-click army comes barrelling down like a tidal wave. I usually just let my low tier units (save GMs who scale well) die and replace them with tanks and kasrkins.
I have only ever played 3v3 regularly since the DOWII beta because I started playing with 2 friends. Is there any way to get into 1v1/2v2 without pissing a lot of people off by playing like a 3v3 person?
How does the game change in 1v1/2v2 when you come from 3v3?
How hard is it to transition from 3v3 to 1v1/2v2?

you have to be looking around the map a lot more to retain map control around the edges, and prevent capping squads from being picked off. there's a lot more finesse and positioning involved which can generally tax your micro more than 3v3, and your builds and engagements have to be more carefully considered and personalized to your opponent's strategies. just go for a heavy t1 and cap as much for the map as you can always and you'll get the hang of it

Well, i love 2vs2 much more. It's pretty similar to 3vs3 but need a bit more skill.
1vs1 is totally different from 2vs2 and 3vs3. It's like 70% about map control. Also, if you are fucked up in 1v1, there is no1 who can help you to return to the game instead of yourself.

Just get started playing 1v1s, thats the great thing about it: No one except for yourself will blame you if you lose or play bad.^^

That's true, also really the transitioning is of varying difficulty, it's mostly based on Player adaptability. I usually pick up quick on things.
Ten squads die by me.... Look at all the damn I give.

It's probably a good idea to play more 2v2.
You are usually responsible for a lane yourself, which is similar to 3v3 with less chance to get double teamed immediately (because of the 2s map structures). However, due to the nature of the 2s map, which have more power and req points, it also encourages the players to move around and at times (depend on mid) contest for mid control. So you get more of the 'moving around' element from 1v1 and also the much of the 'lane fighting' in 3s. Late game is all about double teaming/big fights, which happens a lot in 3s.
The lane setup environment helps you to improve coordinating your units for battle/splitting them w/o needing to worry too much about double team/map control unless you screw up really hard and let your opp press you to your natural power at the very beginning of the game.

There is a lot more micro with 1v1 than 3v3.
Instead of blobbing troops around the map like in 3v3 games, you need to split up your forces to cap and de-cap territory which is essential to winning.

I find it very difficult. Now, I play Company of Heroes 2 1v1 fine, but Dawn of War 2 with all the melee and balancing issues just make is tough for me.

In general, 1v1s put more focus on the player's ability to be active throughout the map. 3v3s is usually pretty lazy in that it plays more like DOTA; you mostly stay in your lane and it's a constant push back and forth. 1v1s are more fluid than that and needs you to be on your feet.
