Lower the time it takes to get a mark with chaos

.. chaos is the only faction that is immobile while upgrading units in t2 and t3. personally i think the upgrade animation takes far to long and i cant understand why chaos has this penalty just for upgrading units besides that it " looks cool " i dont want the animation removed just want the upgrade time lowered. another bad thing about it is that it clearly shows the other team what you are upgrading to... if you have a havoc setup team and you spot a dread/tank. you need 2 retreat or pull back and then get the mark, with other factions you can move your unit while upgrading to a lasscannon

the same goes for dreads and tanks..it just feels like a penalty you have to pay for playing chaos, and at least that penalty should be lowered.

Got to say on tanks and dreads its a bit of a pain to say the least put how could it be changed? Pretty sure upgrading in base is fine but it can catch u out especially on set up teams when u have it Stacked for tier 2 in a fight. Also does it stop in retreat to upgrade?

wat no i dont think so. pretty sure if you have mark queued up and they retreat just before you hit T2 they'll go back to base before upgrading. not sure about when you try to retreat while upgrading though.

Either way I dont think it's necessary to change it. you just have to plan your purchases out a little bit. the marks are all such value purchases that I think having the upgrade time lock you out of actions is acceptable as a tradeoff.

Much as I am loath to disagree with you Crew, and give Corn ammo, he's right ;) I've had this happen to me, queue up a mark and hit retreat a few moments after, and the unit stopped mid retreat as T2 research finish. I can't remember what happened after (did he run home, or did I have control?) but he did stop.

In any case, mark channeling time is a fun idiosyncrasy of chaos. It adds flavor, is unique and is absurdly simple to play around. I can't see any reason to change it.

0_o well I stand corrected. My memory is so bad.
That could probably be changed to make them finish retreating before the upgrade starts, I could imagine some scenarios where that would be frustrating.

Other than that I think it's fine tho.

It's a Chaos "weakness", a small cost to pay for their units general high damage.
Best is to not upgrade in the field and especially not cue upgrades. Unless you want your squads to die.

Yes mark upgrades can happen in retreat. Anyway you can always cancel the upgrade and resume retreating or whatever you wanna do. Chaos upgrades already take less time in average than their SM counterpart, and units do benefit from worship while they are upgrading. Then it's alright.

like i said i dont want it removed cause " it looks cooooooool" and makes sense that they are dedicated to a single god.. but the time it takes should be lower...

You can't cancel the upgrade thingy if you retreat and the upgrading starts mid retreat.

Anyway. I don't see an issue with the upgrade times being too long. Chaos has awesome upgrades so this downside is deserved.

Both marks take ten seconds to complete, which I feel is quick enough, and I don't see why someone would upgrade them in combat anyway.

Well it is kinda bs for example how an SM devastator can be deployed and upgrading to lascannon while your crusher is tieing up missile tacs and you have no idea your about to be snared....

@PaperBaG. Anticipate.

For your example, if the SM player gets a missile and las just to counter your crusher, you've already won out on the engagement.
That's 155/40 in upgrades alone to counter a 250/60 purchase that might not even die if you're countering properly :)
