Ok, I have put on a lot of threads, read threads, and they've all given various answers.
So my plan is to get better as quick as I can. I have asked for advice, which helps, and have played a lot of 3v3s to reinforce what I've learned. However, the problem is, I don't think I'm advancing fast enough with my skill rating.
I have come into the game and had people with a lot less experience than I got just romple stomp me in 1v1 matches/circumstances. However, I have also been able to help teammates in various scenarios and help secure victories.
Here is how I view the 3 modes...
1v1: It is incredibly punishing to lose a squad, to lose generators, and your hero. It is lax when it comes to you pulling ahead, for you can keep the pressure up almost the rest of the game.
2v2: Not as punishing as 1v1, but moreso in 3v3. You have a teammate to sometimes help you out of a tight spot, but also gives you something to be reliant on or carry up.
3v3: Most of these games are just fun, but there is little accountability in keeping your squads up due to them being shot down so quickly. You have 2 other people to rely on or carry.
I'm trying to think though, which game mode will help me advance more? I want to say 1v1, but i also see the perks in the other 2 game modes. So can I get some help with this?
1v1, 2v2, or 3v3? Which will make me better?

Re: 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3? Which will make me better?
what do you mean when you say "get better"?
if you mean improving your micro and game understanding then 1v1 is the way to go. you have to be way more aware and micro your units all over the map, and the smaller armies on the maps means that you have to play a lot smarter than in team games, where you can just get a big old ranged blob and A-move them across the map.
2v2 and 3v3 practice is good if you want to be better at team games or understanding the teamwork dynamics.
1v1 is definitely the most challenging since there's nobody else to advise or carry you through the game.

I think your question is based on a false assumption.
1v1
2v2
and 3v3
do not at all play like the same game. different units are better or worse depending on which one you play, different play styles are better or worse depending on which you play. hell different races are better or worse depending on which one you play.
And you can get reasonably good at one and be terrible at others (like me i am decent in 3v3 and terrible 1v1 because i cant stand cat and mouse gameplay).
even 3v3 can be more challenging than 1v1 if all 6 players can take advantage of the mechanics that mode emphasizes. most of the time this wont happen in pubs , but it can , some of the hardest game i have ever played were 3v3s, some of the easiest were 1v1s.
if you want specifically micro then 1v1 is where you need to go because high micro is practically a barrier of entry.
However if you want to work on teamwork and field awareness then team games will crush 1v1 into a fine powder

1v1 is the best game mode to practise in. You and you alone are responsible for what happens.
Most good 1v1 player will do well in all game modes.
While most "good" teamgame only players probably can't hold their own in a 1v1.

Re: 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3? Which will make me better?
Well I've been doing a few 1v1 and am getting shit on pretty hard. Even by people I know I could beat but I guess I just gotta play more... but omfg I hate losing so much it just kills me.
Personally, I'm super competitive, and when losing, it just flares me up. Losing is the one thing I hate to do the most on these games because it's like putting 30 minutes of effort only to lose. Like seriously, I cannot stand to lose.

Then don't play 1v1. I've got around 3000 hours, very few of them in 1v1, and I get rick rolled every time I play that gamemode versus halfdecent opponents. you'll have to swallow your pride if you wanna get good at 1v1 I'm afraid

personally i think it is more about building up a tolerance to the whole ninja capping theme that goes into 1v1 rather than simply getting better with units and bos.
that could explain how he is losing to people he thinks are of lower skill...
But once you get a handle of that play style , you certainly start to improve. I would suggest building more starter units than you normally would in say team matches.

Just echoing the sentiment, but 1v1 is probably going to help your overall game the fastest/best. It's painful as f*ck though and wounds your pride like no other. It's not for everyone.
Re: 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3? Which will make me better?
That is all true. I'm starting to build a tolerance slowly... I think it's just "ladder anxiety" due to having my record look like shit haha. But yeah, just from the few 1v1s I've played I'm starting to see a significant difference.

spamming 3v3 and flaming your teammates and posting retarded shit on the forums is the best way to improve, just ask riku

Gotta love out of game flamerz
Yeah been playing 1v1 a lot more now and it's starting to grow on me a bit as I take it slowly. My main things now are tactics and map awareness... which probably wont be perfected but definitely improved upon.
