Ok, so I've played a lot of matches against nids now and I must say I am completely stumped. There is nothing I can do against them and I have tried the following openings...
Warboss>Slugga>Shoota>Shoota>Loota, Warboss>Slugga>Slugga>Shoota>Loota, Warboss>Slugga>Slugga>Slugga.
I try to have my shootas engage first so I can bring my sluggas in to intercept the hormas, and try to use warboss to hit their range/protect my shootas and no matter what, I always wipe squads. I will always lose my lootas, no matter when I retreat. If hormas even begin to get close, I feel like I have no choice but to retreat because there is nothing to deter them from my shootas.
Lootas on the other hand get decimated by any of the tyranids heros. Lictor stealths, comes in, forces melee. Hive Tyrant derps in, disrupts, lootas gotta retreat. Ravener... well this is rather obvious.
If I try to incercept with my slugga, they just either die because if I engage, they are always overwhelming in numbers... even with my warboss. Either they get shot to pieces by the remain termas that are laughing at my shootas, or the commander comes in and wrecks them, or the mighty sun god casts his wrath on me.
If I retreat, they get chased down and die... I bleed to much to tyranids it's unreal.
When I get to t2, it doesn't matter at this point. I've had to reinforce/purchase my squads and by that time, we're even in tier. All he has to do is finish with Tyrant Guard, or Zoan the rest of my troops into the dirt... even with stinkbombaz.
Simply, I lose too much t1. So any advice?
But wait, I must PLEASE ASK ANYONE if you link me a video, to at least explain to me what is going on in the video. I have watched 50+ replays all with Ork and still cannot get an understanding of what is done. I've looked at strategic points, I've looked at the cover, I've looked at the back capping. If anything... please just explain to me how to do this shit.

Hm... are you paying attention to the economy part? Gens/units purchasing, upgrades, wargear? Besides, you shouldn`t really commit to engagements when you don`t have means to counter nid stuff (e.g. bigga shootas upgrade, etc.). It`s hard to give advices without seeing your games.
Well, watch this cast from Indrid - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHHH_ImaGLE. Yea, he`s not explaining that much in t1 part of the game, but really you can watch and figure it out yourself. There`s alse lootas in action.

Re: Orks vs. Nids T1
I think it would be helpfull if you posted a replay, then we can help better. (Not me personally, I have no clue about Orks/nids^^).
You can find replays under C:\Users\yourname\Documents\my games\dawn of war ii - retribution\playback . Upload them on gamesreplays.org , or some other random free file upload site you can find.
Or get one of the better Ork players here to spectate one of your games.
Because your problem seems to lie in the small details I would guess.

Re: Orks vs. Nids T1
Alright lets do this.
I've played a bunch of games vs nids with my warboss. It can be a headache but it's doable.
first off, for opening engagement:
nids are going to be faster than you so its best to keep your formation fairly compact as you prepare for first engagement.
primary concerns are going to be spore mines and hormagaunts. spore mines will often be present in first engagement, so its important to scout them out and figure out where they are. focus with shootas and then finish off with warboss, try not to let them get too close. also remember to keep your shootas spread out. warboss should be kept with your shootas until the hormagaunts are forced off, then he can go bully termagants.
i usually prefer to get spiky armor if i see double termagants so he can tank more damage, but if he goes heavy melee then cybork is a good choice. bosspole is usually going to be better than angry bitz since they have good snares (crippling poison) and the suppression resistance helps vs barbed strangler. hammer is also fantastic at popping warriors and turning engagements in your favor.
warriors hit the field really fast, try to save for stormboyz asap so you can get more map presence and really threaten the termagant blobs or warriors with their mobility and power melee. nids will usually go for barbed strangler, so split your units up!
big shootas are more important than nobz unless you're fighting LA, because you can use them for slowing down hormagaunts.
in general try to approach from multiple direction. have your shootas and warboss approach from one side, keep sluggas over on the side capping and move them in for flanks or retreat killing, and keep your stormboyz seperate but close so they can jump in if need be.
also spam the shit out of your globals. they'll make the difference between dead sluggas or dead warriors a lot of the time.
try to make the nid player approach you instead of the other way around. he has better snares than you do (slow instead of suppression) so approaching will make you take a lot of damage. instead get your big shootas up and harass him from long range, and use your warboss and sluggas as counter initiation.
here's a relevant replay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU9KheuZXGw
pro tip: dont get nobz vs LA. menacing visage is nasty

stormboyz are the key.

Re: Orks vs. Nids T1
Recently ive felt like i cant beat orks with my nids.
Tex did trippel shootas and defended his power hard.
Vs tripple sluggas, that was tough, i simply couldnt deal with all that melee, i lacked spore mines, wasnt prepared, before i could recover he destroyed my gen farm, and at that point the disadvantage just increased due to economy.
Yea, show us a game, are you mainly spread out or together with your army? And do you play alot on your opponents side of the map?

Re: Orks vs. Nids T1
sounds like you two need to play each other

Re: Orks vs. Nids T1
post a replay! im curious to see what you are doing.
my gut tells me its your micro or you're misunderstanding nuances.
I once heard tex say in a replay how important it is to master the timing of the warboss retreat and melee attacks.
once played fortune and he WRECKED me in WB vs WB. his unit formation made me change entirely how I played and moved my units in engagements.

Yeah, share your insights with the group so we can all learn!
Re: Orks vs. Nids T1
I don't know if the problems I was having is going to help him. I could recount all my knowledge but he might know some or most if not all of it. plus I am not trying to hijack his thread.
its time for him to get someone to watch his replays and see what hes doing that hes not saying. Admittedly, im more of a team-game player so who knows if its even useful to him if hes playing 1v1.
