Hy so in the past i also tried Elite mod and i liked it then after it got patched and public custom "glitched" out i got multiple unjoinable "ghostgames" thats how i noticed thats something wrong patched up good. Now after half year i came back dl ed the 2.42 version( latest ) directly from site and now i got 5 ghostlobbys sometimes actual games.
1question: is my version wrong again?
2 q: How much ppl actually play this mode from the lest say normal 1k from online palyers? i see plenty of live forum topics but not that much activity ingame <- maybye wrong version?
Thanks in advance!

This is the reason why this community will rot into nothing, but it will take ages to be honest

Actually, we have more players than retail / vanillia version now. It depends on time of the day sometimes, but it is much easyer to find games on Elite mod now unless you want to use Last Stand.
About ghost games, don't worry too much about it. With every new patch; they are deleted and opens new space for new ghost games. I don't know why they even exist but seemsl like very tiny a technical issue. Nobody worked on preventing them since it doesn't effect our gameplays itself.

Pretty sure the ghost lobbies are something on Relic's end. Nothing that can really be done about it. Easy way to avoid them is to not try to join a match with no host name. Those are always the ones that are bugged.

I know what your'e talking about and you're not the only newcomer to feel this way - you have a very legitimate grievance. Half of the problem is how few people play Dawn of War II nowadays. The game lost a large portion of its players years ago; furthermore, this is a mod that is generally targeted and catered to the needs of a small clique of veteran players.
The only reason I can play Elite mod at all is because I learned all the core skills back in 2009-2010 when a ranked game took 10 seconds to fill and you could get a lot of practice in against a wide variety of opponents. I can't imagine how it is for the poor SOBs who just picked up the game and got to experience the warm reception of the Level 60 1000+ hours brigade. You might consider joining the nooby group and playing some games with them. They have a thread open here: https://www.dawnofwar.info/forum/viewto ... f=2&t=1927

Sad but true.
Re: New guy question
Well the Beginners Club looks pretty nice from my first impression, I had a lot of fun with it today. Plays on a daily basis too.
Was even able to hold my own to some degree, thanks to the number of other bloody beginners like myself.
But yeah, I expect you won't find that many games outside of evening hours and planned events.

Re: New guy question
Hi...
I'm a new player myself. I also have the most games on the ladder, which is my total amount of games +/- 8. I usually open the ESL thing whenever I boot DoW2. Note that having the most games on the ladder doesn't mean that I have the most games overall, but it should give you an idea of how many 1v1s I've been able to find in the last ~week. lol
If you also notice, most of the players I've gone up against aren't actually active in the forums, or the ladder, or anything like that. My win rate also sits at 3x% - that is to say I haven't had much of a problem when it comes to finding games in my skill range. I just suck.
To be honest, I'm not sure where you're getting the whole ''elitist 60 players'' from. The worst experience I've had with a top player was him switching races after having played Warboss, almost exclusively, for a long ass time, so I could obs + watch the replays and learn something (shoutout to Crew + Tex + the rest of the negs that helped me!
)
Even the streamers have thrown me advice on stream.
Seriously... the only thing I've lacked when it comes to help from the community is someone physically spoon-feeding me. LOL
Like every other competitive game, you're gonna get dumpstered super fucking hard at the beginning. And, like every other competitive game, you're gonna start dumpstering people, eventually. Just chill out and take the losses in stride. Whenever I know I've lost a game, I'll build units and stay 'til I'm out of VP... because fuck the other guy.
Unless I completely misunderstood OP. In that case, ignore this shit.

Re: New guy question
if you ask for help/advice i think you'll find a lot of people willing to help you out or give you some friendly tips.
