Unknown Join Event
Unknown Join Event
Me and my friend have been having consistent unknown join event error messages across all versions of the Elite mod. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as all other mods we've used work fine, such as the Popcap mod.

Re: Unknown Join Event
If you're trying to join private games, the reason for this can either be you're on different versions of the mod (current is 2.5), or you have to restart the game and then invite the other person. Sometimes, for whatever reason, if a private game host tries to host more than one game in a row without restarting the game, this error occurs.

Yeah, we've heard this. Not to be rude, but we just booted up 2.5 for the first time, we downloaded at the same time, made sure we did, made sure we had the same mod and game version. No idea what could be causing this issue. We see eachother in general chat, but we can't see eachother's lobbies or join them.

Do either of you have the -dev command active in your startup options?

No, we don't.

You're sure? Go to your game library, right click Retribution>Properties>Set Launch Options just in case.
Otherwise, if you can see each other in the General chat, the usual reason for this is either a version mismatch or the -dev option. And I guess make sure you're using the right shortcut when starting the game as well. Not sure what would be causing it otherwise.

How can we be absolutely sure we don't have a version mismatch? And we both checked our desktop shortcuts and Steam library options, no -dev, just nomovies and modname Elite.

Re: Unknown Join Event
Well, the Lamenters are new to 2.5. Go to the Army Painter, pick Space Marines, and scroll down to the Lamenters (Elite) scheme (most of the infantry should have chequered shoulder pads). If you both have that, you should both be in 2.5.
Re: Unknown Join Event
We do have that. Should've mentioned this earlier probably, but we both have LogMeIn Hamachi installed and open to use with Minecraft, GMOD, etc. Could that be the problem...?

No idea. I guess try without it.
Re: Unknown Join Event
Windu. You know it's a Relic bug that happens in the retail game. It happens whenever you invite a person to your game if it's not your first hosted lobby.
You need to restart your game each time to be able to properly invite people to your lobby. That's why you see public lobbies labelled private.

Yeah, I mentioned it in my first comment
He said they couldn't see the public lobbies either.

I know, but as you've stated it in your first post, I would get the impression it's an Elite Mod only problem.
Re: Unknown Join Event
I should probably mentioned, the first time we all three booted up 2.4.2, it worked fine.
