How do you think it will affect this beloved Mod of ours?

Details on the Patch which will be released March 10 from http://community.dawnofwar.com/discussion/428/bug-patch-notes-march-10th-2016
-Replaced the weapons for the supporting members of Imperial Guard Heavy Weapon Squad.
-The ranged weapons of the supporting squad members were removed in an earlier bug patch.
-The Hardcore Steam achievement now unlocks after beating wave 20 in the Last Stand Anvil of Khorne Map.
-Progress on Last Stand weapon achievements is now being recorded correctly.
-Fixed a crash that occurred when the Chaos Sorcerer cloned the Tau Shas’O Commander’s drone.
-Fixed a crash that occurred when first encountering the Eldar in the Space Marine campaign.
-Fixed a crash that occurred when crossing the bridge in the Dark Portal mission of the Ork Campaign.
-Added multiple colors in the army painter.
-Due to new colors for the Necron, there are new colors for everyone!

If they do it right... Nothing.

But this is Relic.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

The only thing that might have an impact on the data layer is the HWT fix, depending on how that had to be approached.

Everything else is engine-level, and thus shouldn't have an impact on any of ELITE's content.

It's likely that this time the patch will kill the game for good making it unable to launch.

So far since the origins of the mods creation, everytime Relic patched the game, the mod broke, and we had to fix it.

Lulgrim warned me about this the other day, and I doubt this will be any exception when it comes to ratio of fix/broke record. We're aiming to releasing the 'Hotfix' post-patch (from Relic).

I hope I'm wrong tho, and everything is smooth sailing. But I'm not very optimistic about the odds.

Oh, right, regular mod maintenance.

Yeah that happens every time any of these games are patched. Same goes for DoW I modifications, too. I thought people were on about unintended consequences, like Ace of Swords' wonderful conspiracy theory :)

I'm just stating my vision of the future of the game on the basis of my experience with relic products, if you would play them you would know that too.

And also because I'm feeling kind enough to banish ignorance today, here have a link to the definition of conspiracy:

What Relic products have ever been turned off, for good, or shut down modifications, from a patch update? I'm intrigued in this experience you claim, you see.

Got to test the beta build today, game ran fine. Good to see conspiracy theories (well done for the link confirming the definition) unfounded ;)

Actually Gorb, I am a part of the long-running Eastern Front Mod, and I can confirm that each time Relic updated their main version of Company of Heroes, it would cause Eastern Front to stop working or to reinstate the ''Strawman bug", which occurs when you would try to recrew a weapon with the two new factions that Eastern Front offers, resulting in a game crash. This bug was caused by conflicting dll.s, if I am not mistaken. So, if not only Elite, also Eastern Front has suffered due to this ''conspiracy theory''.

We have had several occasions where contact was made and words about the situation were exchanged, but Relic basically said ''Too bad''. Nonetheless, Relic has helped EF a couple of times over the years, so I do not bear a grudge towards them.

Nonetheless, Relic has caused us more grief than good, if I could say. It is indeed unfortunate.

And I already talked about regular mod maintenance. I'm not claiming otherwise, there.

Ace if Swords explicitly talked about 'killing the game for good', which really doesn't sound like the above.

Trust me, I know regular maintenance. It's a pain that patches require mods to be updated. I'm a longterm contributor to Firestorm over Kronus, and Kaurava, back when the base games were still getting patched. But that's how games modding works in general, even in modern games with advanced modding support (like Planetary Annihilation).

I know for a fact Relic care about the ELITE mod and it's impact on the longevity of DoW II. I also recognise the pain patches cause games mods. Aside from FoK I've been involved in modding DoW since the latter days of Winter Assault. If anything, I'm on the side of modders themselves.

But I won't stand still for baseless complaints from certain folk.

Hmm, then I might have (slightly) misread your post. My sincere apologies.
