Hi there Elite Mod people


I've been following Indrid's casts and for a while I was thinking that I'd like to contribute to this Mod in some way ^^
Since I'm an illustrator/concept artist I could provide you guys with some fresh illustrations, faction wallpapers or whatnot ^^ Granted, if you even need such =)
Thats the part I wasn't sure about =) Personally I think the GK's would need a nice wallpaper for the Brother Cap' or the army itself, but I would love to do that for the other races heros

Anyways, I'll show you guys what I'm doing and you can decide if you'd like me to draw for the Elite Mod a few stuff or its not necessry =) Before you ask, I will do this for free, since I think its a great project and I'd just like to be part of it ^^

Seems legit.

We could use portrait art for pretty much all the new units except Flash Gitz and Doom of Malan'tai (HansMoleman painted some already). Gay Knights are tied to normal Spess and can't have their separate in-game (after-match) wallpaper for now, but if you can cook up something that represents both we could put it in. Or replace any of the other faction art thingies if you have better ones.

There might be some icons that could be better, if you like fiddling with small stuff like that.

We are open to Elite logo redesigns.

We could use all sorts of random art on the website.

And generally just do whatever you find interesting and we'll check it out.

the ingame icons are actually amazingly shitty when you look at them at their fullres and there isn't stuff going on all over the place. i think they serve there purpose though and would require acclimatizing if they were changed.

@Lulgrim + Nuclear Arbitor --- Oh, good to know that about GKs. I think I can cook up something for each faction for that purpuse. And actually doind a joined piece with SM and GK is not that bad, since they are technically one faction anyways

Hm, havent tried my hand with unit portrait icons or icons in general, but if I draw something for the new units it will look different from the others, so in the end I'd need to draw for all of them to have a matching style. Simply because I think the original unit portraits were taken with the game engine, hence why they might look shitty on close zoom

Oh, ok I'll think of the Elite Logo too a bit Might come up with something good

Anyway, just let me know which of the things you mentioned have priority at the moment and I'll start working on that ^^

Lovely work Kilgarn =] Good to hear we got another artist willin to help. Got to continue these portraits once I finish class in 4 days. If your interestign in the portrait re design the dimensions for it to fit in game are 184 X 208 pixels. I love your dynamic poses and structured anatomy.

As I understand, only the new, Elite mod units need a new portrait

So this includes the following:

Eldar: Reaper, Fire Dragon
Ork: Painboy, flash gitz
SM: Vanguard (Tac + ASM)

The other new units portraits (like Chaos Raptor + Termi) has solid portraits, these are the only ones I find to be shot from miniatures.
Which one should I start with ?
I guess as Helios said, Dark Reaper + Painboy would be a priority ?:P

@HansMoleman --- oh thanks =) wanted to ask about the dimensions anyways Most likely I'll do it in a bigger version, so even scaling down wont do bad on the quality

Yep i think you should start with reapers and painboy. Flashgitz have a very nice portrait now.Maybe the van.

On a tangent with the other thread asking about the "Alpha Legion (Elite)" warband, we do have the ability to set army (paint-job) specific portrait/icon sets for any unit. So we are not requesting anything, but should some chapter-themed portraits pop up from somewhere we could include it in da mod.

Since portraits are quite small and fast to draw, I think I can draw a sub-faction series of portraits in a row =) Its not that hard, since I dont need too much details pushed into it ^^
If you like, you can even make a poll (or I do XD) on which sub-factions they'd like to see first =) Technically I could do all the sub factions XD Although for Nids it would be a bit funny Since they change only color X) but essentially look the same


Anyways, I'll start working on the Painboy and Vanguards next week first =)

Tried to match the original style a bit Though its not the same ofc X) I still have a slightly different style then the original artist who did the orks
Its a double size variant of the 148x208px

Might need a bit brightening up, but you guys decide
