Whats more played vanilla or elite mod?

Just looking for an honest answer. I'm planning on getting back into dow2 after a few years of inactivity. Don't get me wrong, i think Elite mod is great, but i mostly care about how fast I can find a game in a larger userbase.

I think it's more or less even if you take TLS out of the equation, maybe retail is sightly more played, however outside of ELITE I don't think there exists a real community for DoW2 anymore.

If your primary interest is being able to find quick games, regardless of the quality of the games played, then retail is the way to go. Vanilla will always have a larger playerbase due to it being the default choice.

However, if you eventually get tired of the number of people playing annihilate and the number of teammates capping as a group, then come over to Elite.

Thanks. I guess il jump around to get more 1v1 games in. I'm just use to using automatch. Does automatch really work in ELITE now?

It does, but not many people use it. We do have our own 1v1 ladder system, though. That can be done through matchmaking or customs.

The relic one, which is still bugged out I think, so it doesn't match with a skill rating at all. And because of the low amount of players using the matchmaking, you basically get a game against whoever is searching.

The relic one, which is still bugged out I think, so it doesn't match with a skill rating at all. And because of the low amount of players using the matchmaking, you basically get a game against whoever is searching.

Correct, but it's because now the games that count as rated doesn't work as it should be due to the battleservers, for example, you now get 1v1 stats from custom games, as well as 2v2s and 3v3s (and they do count towards your 1v1 stats) this isn't an ELITE only thing, it's simply the whole system that was screwed by battleservers, so matchmaking as we intend it is pointless, there's also the fact that dow2 used to be based on points (ELO) and you could clearly see it in the stats, now, I believe it still works this way but you can't see it and instead of having a single ladder (talking about retail here) for all the factions, each faction is separated and has it's own ladder with the "best" player of that faction, basically like it's in CoH2, except here this system makes 0 sense since mirror matches are allowed.

For the rest, I don't know if the steam elo is still working (which was different from the in-game elo).

Steam elo no longer effects who you are matched up against when using the retail ranked system. That much is clear to me.

Also map preferences do nothing. This was all broken when relic made their first 'returning patch' recently.
