ESL - yey i'm here! W8 why i'm here?

Hi,
I had some free time at work so I was just reading forum/codex/ESL ladder when I saw my self on the ladder page. Now, I'm not sure if I understand ELITE ESL correctly but isn't 'Elite reporter' + magic word 'Ranked' needed? And I'm pretty sure I didn’t do any of this things, neither recall 1v1 with 'Ranked' being used (magic plan to actually L2P 1v1 before getting into ESL ). Anyone could clarify this?

Hi, it was changed, so that the standart is that the games will be recorded aslong as one player has the Reporter running, wether or not anyone writes ranked.

If you don't want the game ranked, you have to write "unranked" at the start of the game (first minute). When one person writes that, it is not ranked.

Yes, OR, they go onto the homepage while logged into a forum account and deactivate it instantly recording ranked matches unless they say.

You can toggle that on and off at the top right, but you need a forum account first.

Exactly.
The same happens if only your opponent runs it.
In addition to that, as Servant said, you can go to the esl site, and if you are registered/linked you can choose your default seetings.
So you could change it so that you have to say ranked for it to count. BUT this only works while you have the reporter running.

If you choose "only ranked if I do write ranked" and you don't have the reporter running, but your opponent has, it will still be ranked. (As far as I can tell).

Ok, I found the magic button. So long story short:
- if I check auto report (or my opponent have done this) there is no need for magic word 'ranked',
- only one person have to run reporter to report games (and when auto report is on, line above comes into play),
- if I want to be sure that game will be not taken into account on ladder I need to type 'unranked' in first 60sec of game,
- if I want to participate in ladder I need to just run reporter with magic button on (ex. if someone type 'unranked'),
right?

Then if anybody in the LOBBY (not just the game - so this includes observers) if running ESL and auto-report is on for everyone in the lobby (and it is always on by default if you don't have a forum account or change it) then the game will automatically be recorded, uploaded and used as a ranked match.

If any player in the game has auto-report off then it will not be a ranked game unless someone specifically says 'ranked' within the first minute of the game. First minute is important of course or someone could say it 25minutes in when it was obvious they were going to win Same rule applies to "Unranked".

If auto-report is on for everybody but a player says "Unranked" within the first minute the game will be unranked.

Unranked games will still be recorded if any person in the game, player or observer, is running ESL and statistics will be gathering from that game so as to increase our gorious sample size and provide statistical data but you personally will not be accountable for any losses or wins you incur as a result of an unranked game and your leaderboard position will remain unaltered.

Servant's summary is correct, but I just added this in today even though the toggle has been on the site for some time now. One caveat not mentioned though: changing this option on the site is not immediate, it takes atleast an hour to avoid abuse.

No, the reporter only sends match data. All validations including checking your "rank by default" setting are done server side and does not rely on the reporter. The match in this case will not be ranked unless someone said "ranked" and no one said "unranked", within the first minute.
