Rippers are awesome. But I don't see them being used much, except when the odd Thornback poops them out T3. It seems to me like people forget they can spawn them from their towers, just like their opponents forget to take them down.
Now I mostly play 3v3s, but Rippers just solve so many problems in T2 for Nids. You can crap them out for a measly 100 req, and you don't even have to bother reinforcing them since for some reason they cost 13 req a pop and just buying a new squad is cheaper and faster. Two-three Ripper squads in T2 alongside a Tyrant Guard is no joke. Rippers tie up threatening ranged units and the TG chomps up whatever it feels like. They can also scout out the enemy before a fight and lead the lines to soak up fire.
I'm also quite surprised the lengths people sometimes go to to get rid of them, using AoE abilities or even globals, which is good cause I'd rather they use it on the Rippers than my Gaunts. You just have to be wary not to feed to many Rippers to your opponent unnecessarily as they give quite some red (not so much exp though fortunately).
Finally, they are the only non-commander vehicle snare for Nids. Now they're a pretty crappy snare generally, but at least it's something.
So yeah, use Rippers.

Also, agree completely. Rippers are fantastic at what they do, especially for their cost.

The "snare effect" isn't that great but what makes rippers so good i've found is they totally path fuck everything and the vehicle always targets them instead of other targets

Tbh 3 rippers can be deadly as fuck if you have say htvc or atleast a venom brood to say attack the vehicle while 3 rippers immobilze a vehicle completly by that not being able to move and therefore a easy prey for any Kind of AV . also great to shutdown setup Teams as well as other higher priority Ranged targets. And they are OFC hard to kill because of they're size making it a pain to actually kill them

Not only their tiny size but all they get melee resist which seems bizarre to me given that alongside aoe that's the main way to kill them...
