Techmarine Infantry Synergy

So there I was, gleaming the Elite forums and I heard a sound. It was a most dreadful sound, not quite the wailing and gnashing of teeth that I am familiar with, but close.

When I listened closer I heard that is was the sound of grief for the lost bolter of the Consecrated variety for the Techmarine. And lo it was a terrible sound for I too miss the tactical spam for Techmarines since it brought much jest and rage of opponents .

Feeling lost and confused I turned upon the Codex Space Marine to sooth my thoughts but it was only when I re-read the Techmarine entry did I receive divine inspiration as if the Emperor himself was speaking to me. There it says that the Techmarine gives added bonuses to cover and the idea formed in my mind.

What if the Techmarine receives an aura that gives (10 - 20 %) damage resistance to units in cover?

This is mostly directed at our Arch-Magos Lulgrim to see if it is possible to implement such a thing (and if Caeltos even likes the idea)

It would be too powerful for T1 and utterly useless later.

How much would it cost? What tier is it? How big is the radius? Is it passive or does it drain energy?

Because the techmarine+tacs in t1 can kill 9,000,000 shoota boys/termagants/guardsmen/avengers while chillin' in cover without losing any models, buffing their ability to do that further is totally uncalled for. Then in t2 cover is just less important in general, nevermind a little 10% buff with all the stronger melee, the walkers and the arty.

Ha, an accessory that gives all allies nearby in the open light cover, and all in light cover heavy cover : D

Nah, I guess it would be kinda neat if the TM could erect heavy Cover, similar to Guardsmen or Dire Avengers.

This way the TM could actually start with an ability he could use^^

Right now all he can do is repair and erect turrets.
The one thing is allmost useless in T1 the other one makes people yell at you- :I

Edit: Anyone remember the Shield Generators ( that would count as cover ) from the 4th Edition set?

Can't do it with available tools. Might be possible via custom scripting but seems like a pain. But I'm not sold on the concept anyway.

I remember the shield generators from my friends Battle for Macragge set. They were so cool!

DA shield protects a very fragile and relatively-expensive-to-reinforce models. it also means less fleet/grenades as DA are somewhat energy intensive. now to give TM the energy shield would be over the top, as TM already pours out range damage, obviously doesn't bleed, and doesn't suffer from shortness of energy until you give him lots of toys.
when playing eldar/orks against TM, he's already a pain, just killing models all the time. no such energy shield for TM plz.

^ yeah of course. It was just my response to the earlier talk on the TM being able to build shield generators or some shenaniganry like that.
