To be honest I'm finding GK terminators absurdly OP at the moment, since they have so many overlapping stacking buffs from globals/bro cap/GK libby AND get ranged weapons that mean you can't kite them.

It's only counterbalanced by the fact that your opponent knows you are getting terminators, and can prepare for it before they even hit the field by getting a tank/spamming plasma/getting snares.

When/If the dreadknight comes out, they need to be looked at.

Providing the replay would very much help here because a lot of things you say just don't add up. If you "own a game from start to finish" how on earth can he even get to T3? Let alone get termies, upgrade those AND get FC with terminator AND upgrade him too! How did LC terminators kill a LRC? I have to completely agree with Tex here.

@Riku +Tex: Ok as explained I'm no whining cos I lost the game and I should have won I was just setting the scene. I let it draw out and passively allowed him to get the termies for the sake of the game cos it was more of a friendly one. I wanted to raise the issue with these termies being able to own so many units' asses without a viable tier 3 counter, or so it seemed.

Yeah we both wanted to grab a replay but the host who was the obvs selected to pull the game to lobby, soz

@Bahamut, no, not the case, the termies (+their FC tbf) owned that combination.

@Torpid Ok, so the GK Termies would be the way to go? And is it good enough to say what I should have had before this incident as answer? Like every unit until then was well thought through and had an optimal effect on the game so I'd buy them again seeing how it was going.

I had forgotten about the Dreadknight actually, it could offer a better solution. Nerf gk termies as suggested. I DO NOT CLAIM in this post to want lightling claw termies, or anythign else but the gk termies, adjusted, I wanted answers lol.

The answer is that:

1. It seems like a serious case of derping when you were ahead, and you forgetting/not seeing the AV weaponry your opponent had to take out your LRC, because I have never seen clawminators be the main reason for the death of a Land Raider.
2. You did not "own the game from start to finish" because a) he would not have gotten clawminators and a terminator commander if you had, and b) you lost.

However, GK terminators (both variants) are the best terminators that is true, but that is because GK only has terminators and a land raider as their T3 options, and these units between them have to be flexible enough to deal with any and all threats. This means that, on occasion, their potentials will overlap too much and multiple terminator squads is still monstrously hard to counter - this is fine when they cost red and the cooldown is very long. I think it's pretty non-debatable that making them call-ins and adding a 350 red cost would probably balance them better

But I really like the thunderhawk call-in for the LRC: unique feature which goes a long way to personalising the GK as a race. So no I don't want terminators to be call-ins for GK, although their performance should be re-evaluated if a dreadknight comes along.

Come now, I've said twice now I let him back in it (intentionally or unintentionally you choose idm) and that it was a friendly game, and that the game could have been different while my issue would have still arisen but yeah. Was just trying to set the scene with the description lol

I'm not trying to say you are whining and I'm not trying to come across in a negative way either ^^ If it seemed that way to you I apologize for that. All I'm trying to say is that it's hard to comment or help you out properly without the replay.

Next time this happens and you wanted to save the replay you should tab out of the game and go to
C:\Users\Riku\Documents\my games\dawn of war ii - retribution\playback
Rename the file named "temp". Sort the files on date so that file will be at the top.
After you renamed it the replay will be visible in game. It won't have a name though.

Two things here then. Firstly yes it is good enough to ask why were you in this spot in the first place because the races aren't intrinsically balanced - they have different ecos and unit compositions which means they all have certain strengths and weaknesses with regards to which hero they are fighting, which map/part of the map they are fighting on, the playstyle of each player and the state of the economies of each player at the time. Hence, it is very important to ask what happened in t1/t2 that meant that by the time you were both in t3 you only had one terminator variant while he also had one (normally the GK for rather complicated reasons should have ~ two terms by the time SM has one with regards to resources anyway [I'm ignoring the fact that SM terms have no build time, but also ignoring their red cost]).

Secondly I see that you did have an LRC alongside your terminators so that may explain it. This then raises the question how did the LRC die, clearly LC terminators can't do that, so he, as Raffa said earlier, must have had other AV options which you ignored. Ultimately the LRC is a rather niche unit and generally a terminator spam is far stronger. So it is possible that your foe may have genuinely lacked AV when you got the LRC but by getting it you were fundamentally weakening your composition to whatever weakness he then exploited to make the comeback. Given that you had no libby from T2 it would have been best to follow up on your pallies with GK terminators. The hammer on the bro-cap can stun his LC termies which helps a lot and you can also use canticle to negate their teleport. The GK libby, if you have him from t2 (which is often a good idea vs SM as he helps GKI butcher ASM really badly, and smite does a lot to all the HI) with all his abilities actually makes it so that pallies beat LC termies, especially with bro-cap support (WATH/shield/hammer stun) and don't forget the mind blades global too.
