The Arrow shaped frames of the ability icons, what exactly do they mean, never quite got that.

Well... as I've ckecked, the down arrow shape means a buff, the right arrow shape one means activated ability. The right rounded arrow is the debuff :)
At least as far as I know ^^

There are three categories: attack (sharp shape pointing right, direct offensive effects); buff (shield shape, positive effects to self/allies) and debuff (round shape pointing right, negative but not directly damaging effects to enemies). Sometimes they don't quite fit the classification.

Well there's kind of a fourth; build (square shape).

In the game's logic, Turbo-lover Rounds would actually be a 'buff' shape as it changes the VA's attack properties but doesn't directly harm an enemy itself.

Also, could you make a sister icon for Exitus Rounds (the two are swapped back and forth)?

The designs look good and they fit in well with existing artwork.

Should the sister icon be identical only color change or.... ?

Can be color change or different design (suggesting anti-infantry) or whatever.

I don't know why, but I LOLed at anti-infantry mode icon. Perhaps it's the over-the-top-ness of it?

It's great, don't change it. :D

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only shooting stuff with massive sniper rifles and laughing when it explodes!

Very nice

the skull reads pretty well at icon sizes for me but the detail on the turbo-penetrator(tm) get's lost. there isn't any confusion with the others, they're different enough, but the icon itself just get's really orange. just keep intended size in mind for the future.

Looks about the same size to me (looking at icon on iPad and thinking about the game at 1920x1200), but when looking through icon assets looking for stuff to use on new abilities I've noticed there are icons I must have clicked hundreds of times without ever really looking at what's depicted on them. Something in my brain just skips over the detail. The shield & skull seem to be visible just fine as long as you're looking.

Actually I've used up the bullet from one of the existing Ork skill (High Explosive Shells) :) Ok, I could've made the bullet more apparent, if you like I can quicky recolor it to a darker color so it will pup out more ^^

It would be a trivial matter to fix =) Not to metnion fast X)

And I've used the original size:
84x84 px =) I think the forum enlarges it slightly ^^ But this is the size what you can find in the DoWwiki too when checking the ability icons :)

Glad you guys like it ^^

@lulgrim i feel like the ingame icons are 75-50% of what the appear on the forum. i'm at 2560x1440 although i don't think that'd make much difference. the default icons are incredibly ugly and reused a lot but it's not something one pays attention to so it works.

@kilgarn it's more of an issue with the shield which is overwhelmed by the orange all over; the grey seems close in value. i don't think there will be any confusion with the icon; i just think it's much more detailed than it needs to be and a lot of the detail gets lost when it get's shrunk a bit. no need to change anything at this point.

Sometimes they are resized in-game (upgrade icons as the most obvious example).

@Nuclear Arbitor --- dunno... I've shrinked them down more then 50% of their size and I can still take out whats on them :) Ok, maybe the bullet itself is not that apparent on such a small version, but it still reads well in my opinion ^^

Btw, I've checked the icons Lulgrim passed to me a a few days ago from the game files and they are 84x84 px :)
Plus I haven't resized it, since it was easier to draw it in that size :D They might be smaller in-game tho, but not by too much ^^

Its hard to catch how to draw icons well, since I cant put in details at all mostly. Not to mention it needs to read well. This was my first attempt at drawing icons though :)
I think they look ok ^^

Keep it up, man, you are a great artist! The Inquisitorial Stormtroopers' portrait looks pretty awesome, your best work by far.

I think you narrowed it down quite well even on the first try. Sometimes you can use a simple symbol to clarify (like a cross-hair, or a "plus" for healing, or the Valkyrie glyphs on IG call-in icons, or such).

yeah. if you look at the icons in a sheet you'll notice that it's a couple of different shapes (grenade for example) that are different colours on different coloured backgrounds. that's literally it. ugly as fuck but you don't notice ingame.

I know its not quite in-theme, just I wanted you guys to see what I'm up to at the moment between DoW drawings :D

Its an Elder Scrolls Online character commission (or at least will be) ^^
A redguard assassin, quite custom lookin' guy, though you can tell ;)
He got a partner on the lower half of the pic, I've left it off from the crop this time ;)
So if I'll draw any WH40k art, it will be something like this quality ;)
Enjoy! :D
(net slightly butchers the pic X) ah well...)

Hi guys :3

Finally managed to find the time to do the Purifiers ;)
That closes off the GK army infantry roster :D At least as long as they dont get any new stuff XD

As for the other one:
I figured I'll do a little X-mas gift for you guys :D Wanted to have more, but I just dont have the necessry time to do so =) So for now you have to "survive" with only this

I've made an official-like poster for the DoW2 Elite :) For the first, I've decided upon IG, since they really need some love ;) No worries guys, the next faction I'll cover is IG/Krieg :D You guys can use it anywhere if you like :D
I was mainly thought this would be nice as a loading screen pic :)
And I thought Indrid might like a new pic for his Youtube channel to use too :D
Anyways I want to make all the factions =) Using their most iconic character out of the 3x commanders.

That means, you guys can chose which I'll do later ^^ Each faction has an iconic commander out of the 3x that you'd love to see I think :D
Personally I love the commissar, even tho he is not the most played commander for IG atm ^^
Plus this poster is a bit of a nod to Commissar Yarrick :D Hope ya like it mate ;) I havent forgot what you asked btw :)

Anyways!! :D
Without further blabber, here are the two completed pics!
Enjoy!! :D

And happy X-mas ^^

Here is the link for the original sized wallpaper:

Just use the magnifying glass on the lower right twice and you get the original resolution ^^

Awesome! Smiley overload!

As for for most iconic commanders my list would be:
  • Force commander
  • Warboss
  • Farseer
  • Hive Tyrant*
  • Chaos Sorceror
  • Lord General
  • Brother Captain huehue? :p
*More likely the Swarm Lord since it's a very big Hive Tyrant. Not a hero I know.

Again very nice work like always!
