So I'm about to start work on the Thousand Sons pack and have a mild dilemma. What do you think the best models to use for the standard CSM are, given that MoT CSM already have a model.

Anybody seen images of non-rubric Thousand Sons or just give me some general ideas as to what would look good. Cheers

All "basic" Thousand Sons marines are Rubric. Only the Sorcerers and perhaps some very old Lords are non-Rubric in the fluff.

I'm pretty sure those dont exist anymore. Only Rubrics and Sorcerers at this point.

But the Pre Heresy Designs might work.

They would be very nice to see, especially if they can be made so close to the artwork.

Ahh... The red sorcerers of prospero. As a huge fan of Thousand sons trilogy I am thrilled!

I recommend you read these 3 books in this order one day.

Horus Heresy - Thousand Sons: All is dust
Horus Heresy: - Prospero Burns: Wolves unleashed
Ahriman The Exile

The story is excelent and it mostly follows Ahriman but in second book it goes through the same story but from the eyes of the Space Wolves. And the third book follows Ahriman in his own personal crusade to save his Legion.

Sounds like a good read. For some reason I have not read them yet have always wanted to. I hope we can see these models soon. I assume they will be for Chaos?

Prospero Burns was really well written for a 40k novel - but the title was a bit missleading. Cant even remember if there was a single Thousand Son in that book.

I find that the Horus Heresy series is generally well written, having read Unremembered Empire and Betrayer myself, and really wanting to buy the first three books since they are now in a larger format instead of that horrible little book that all of the older ones are in.

Hiho, I just wanted to know if it would be possible to replace/recolor the sm libby lenses from this horrendous pink/purple to a nice green, something like the normal sm lenses or the ones from the terminators.

Would be awesome. ^^

Piling on the suggestions here, but I noticed another post by Jazz Sandwich is going on about Dark Eldar being a possible implementation.

Definitely not a hint ;)

It featured Ahriman's Cabal to save the legion with "The rubik" of Ahriman from book of Magnus he held at that time. At the end.

I still recall the fight between Ahriman and the Wolf Rune priest of who's name I do not remember. Reminds me of famous last words of one guy in a movie: "The truth stings".

Ahriman vs the Wolfpriest - wasn't that from A thousand Sons? Or did they cover it in both books?

As I recall it featured it in both books. In wolves unleashed I recall something Othere Wyrdmake, the rune priest, consulting with Russ to reach a verdict on Magnus in Council of Nikea. that was the official name of the event but in truth it was the judgement of Magus the Red.

I got a technical question, if you dont mind.

Do you know if its possible to fix the light cone of the IG HQ's search lights on the ones mounted on tanks?

@Orkfaeller:

I always thought they where supposed to be blacklight searchlights or ir-systems like this one Image or that one Image.

Im pretty sure those things are just regular lights.

In the TT you can use them in night battles to spot/mark enemy targets for the rest of your army. But at the same time they reveal the position of your own vehicle, so, yeah, just a regular big flashlight, I think.

they're not on though so unless they were changed so that they were (pretty strange in non JoC maps) they shouldn't have beams anyway.

Anyway to answer your original post you could most likely copy/paste the fx marker from the HQ model to the LR model. Thats how I put the Storm Bolter fx on the Apo's CSB so I presume it'd work in this case as well.

Back after some horrendous work-life balance issues and working on a hunter-killer model for the Whirlwind. (WIP - any suggestions welcome)

It looks really good at the moment. If you want it to look like the boardgame's, I have a couple of suggestions:

Dont make it so long and big, the H-K Missile is like a small turret, pretty discrete.

And, If you study the boardgame models for Space marines, the missile launcher tube is not centered in the turret. The central structure of the turret holds the tube on a side and the aiming system on the other, i hope these images help:

Sweet Job.
This way the hunter killer missle would make alot more sense imho than the way its implemented right now.

Maybe the missle itself doesnt have to poke out that far, but thats just nitpicking.

Hope that makes it in.

Reduced length so looks more close to the tabletop model, reduced size of warhead.

First post updated with download.

@Orkfaeller - hows progess on the cult marines going?

Almost through all the stuff I had on now - perhaps soon we can collab on getting a Mordian and Steel Legion pack together? (Only once everything is out of the way though - now the end is in sight I want to finish stuff up properly)

If Sterling decided to use my paintjob, it should look something like this.

You got a screenshot or something, would make it easier to figure out whats wrong.
